LG 2019 OLED lineup have had VRR since the release back in April.
The thing is that it's HDMI 2.1 VRR and there are no GPUs for it. Xbox One was be the only source capable of this particular VRR solution until now.

2019 OLEDs from LG already had VRR, this is just Nvidia making sure it works well with their cards.

I don't understand the hate, it's a free update adding features, the better VRR works on all cards, the better for us.

Like others already said, it's not locked to any vendor, it's on core hdmi spec and in use on every HDMI 2.1 TV/Monitor out there. AMD just has to do what they promised a long a go(CES 2018), release those hdmi VRR drivers for RX series graphics cards. Their current proprietary implementation Freesync over hdmi is not using HDMI VRR.

Yep, they share branding words. This doesn't literally mean they are the same thing. This happens everywhere. (A Radeon 9700 is not faster than a Radeon 5700XT? Scam? no, just dumb) It is not false advertising and not a scam.

I don't defend this at all. I say there is absolutely no evidence strong enough to prove it's happening, not that that stops your rabid mob from a preemptive assualt of claims on threads about an LG tv.

More likely LG payed for the logo and cert testing, frankly. If there is any dirty play it's that maybe that logo comes with additional strings attached (like no freesync brand) but I find the idea that that'd be kept quiet this long across so. many. vendors. absurd to the point of improbable if not impossible. I've worked this industry, people think they are whistleblowers if they see a marked up video card. I just can't conceive this being that well hidden.

That's fair but again I think your directing your blame in the wrong direction.

I'd be whining at LG, as I'm pretty sure this decision fell to them, and they just said "no one uses freesync anyways"

I have a PS4 Pro and an Xbox one X connected to a Q80r that Support’s Freesync looks great. That’s a bottom line there.
Then I have a C9 connected to my PC with rtx 2070 Super in and playing at 1440p 120hz is wicked nice.
So for those who want experience. I say it’s worth it all as my experience breathes new life into gaming.
G-SYNC Or Freesync however monitors or TVs like to market, the bottom line is supported High Refresh Rates. That’s what’s being hyped up. There’s compatibility here too. I’m not going to hook up my old PS3 and expect Freesync of GSync. You get what you pay for. For those who have a AMD card and want to play and have a maxed out experience on a TV the Samsung QLEDs will deliver nicely, but so will a OLED from Lg C9 or B9.

Why is everyone agreeing to be misled by NVidia PR department is beyond my understanding...

"NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible" - as in article - has nothing to do with G-Sync.
In monitors (Display Port)-- it is either Adaptive Sync (called also Freesync) -- a standard developed by AMD and VESA consortium, or -
in Monitors/TVs (through HDMI) - it is VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) - a standard developed by AMD and HDMI consortium (also sometimes called Freesync through HDMI).

Nvidia played no role in developing both of these standards.
What they "only" did is - after a few years of milking their G-Sync fanbase they partially stopped, and agreed to support the free standards...eventually... but as we see even this they try to sell as their own....
Shady marketing practices...

So by that logic you would also have no problem when someone took your research/bachelor work and named it as their own ? Or the fact that the Bully was bullying the smaller ones for their lunch money for years or worse - they were giving their lunch money to them for free and they were glad they were not bullied by them? This is THAT kind of analogy.
