Nice,do remember that heatpipes dont work upside down.

Thanks guys. When I added it to the case gallery I didn't realize it showed up as a forum post...plus I got an IE error. I'm adding more pics now...with better cable management.

Nice,do remember that heatpipes dont work upside down.

I've heard alot of confusing arguments about whether or not they work upside down. Some folks say they don't work upside down period due to thermodynamics. Others say that wicked heatpipes will work in any orientation. I'm not sure that asus wicks their heatpipes, but what I do know is that this comp has been rock solid since I built it back in July, with no heat issues on the board to speak of.

Your cases layout confuses the hell out of me...

Where exactly do you plug the power supply into the wall?

different !!!!
clean setup but you could manage cables a bit better, although the psu might be in a non convinient position...
good hardware and case...

6/10 excellent!

WTF is a G50 Side panel, I don't see any side panel?????????????????????????????

Nice, same mobo, CPU, and CPU cooler as me. Just one thing, why do you have the CPU cooler pointed in that direction?

Wow. Thanks for all the kind comments guys.

I was kinda surprised when I joined the forums here that there weren't as many folks into this case. One of the longest forum threads at hardforums is based around this case, and it was because of that thread and the uniqueness of the case layout that I decided to buy it for my current build.

To answer a few questions about it:

1. This is probably the smallest case in the world that will accept a full atx motherboard along with a large heatsink. That was one of the reasons I chose it. Folks have been successful at putting ultra-120's on their cpu's with no problems. In order to allow room for large heatsinks, lian li had to move the power supply to the front of the case. A proprietary power cord actually runs from the back of the case to the front and then plugs into your psu's power socket and is hidden behind the front bezel. A normal power cord is then plugged into the back and into the wall.

2. Along with the power supply being reversed in the case, the airflow of this case is reversed as well. Cool air is pulled into the case from the back and exhuasted out the front by a 120mm fan hidden behind the hard drive bay. There are air holes along both sides of the front bezel that allow for the air to exhuast. So, that's why my heatsink looks backwards.

3. The only downside to this case is that there's a pocket of hot air that develops at the top above the video card. Its not a terrible problem for me as I chose not to overclock this system, but I do like to keep everything nice and cool. Lian li makes a similar case to the A05 called the G50 which has a side panel with two sets of vents. I purchased the side panel from performance-pcs along with the lian li plus II fan bracket. The bracket sits above my pci slots and exhuasts air from the top.

Since the case is entirely made of aluminum and the size of most micro atx cases its super small and super lightweight and easy to carry to lan parties. I get tired enough lugging my 21" behemouth monitor to and fro as it is.

I'm really frustrated the more I look at my wire management. My 8800gt will be here Thursday so when I install it I will take more pictures of all sides of the case, as well as pics of it with the side panel on. Oh, and I'll tidy up the wires a bit.

Update:

Added new pics. Worked on my cable management a bit. There's not much you can do with such a limited amount of space. Also, took a pic of the front minus the bezel to show everyone how the psu is hooked up at the front. I also took a side pic of the lian li plus II fan keeping my new 8800gt cool :). Then, for everyone to see, a pic of the case with the g50 side panel.

:O

How have I not noticed this before. I freakin' love this case! I recently bought it in black and I'm extremely happy with it's simplistic, yet sublime aesthetics. I'm currently sourcing parts so that I can move my current set up into it and finally use my WC kit that's been lying dormant for over 2 years.

I really need to do what you've done here and get the G50 side panel. Where did you purchase yours from? - Hopefully you'll reply. :)
