Editorial Linux Community Hit by the Blight of Social Justice Warfare, A Great Purge is Coming

Hillary has still been subjected to treatment no male politician in her position has been subjected to, and most of it highly gendered ("doesn't have the temperament for government" and all that)
Yeah, and that shit needs to end.
And it won't hurt anyone, seeing how trickle-down economics is a complete and utter lie, disproven time and again.
Hence the reason why we're having this debate. If trickle-down economics really did work we would not be seeing the huge amounts that CEOs are paid these days while the common working man is barely scraping enough cash together to put food on the table.

I still don't understand why he's seen as racist.. let alone a fascist.
Look at how he's handling the Mexico situation, or should I say... not handling it.

Hillary tried and failed at riding the SJW bandwagon started by Obama. They lost the reins of the SJW campaign and it became a parade.

We young people today (anyone below 35-40, really) are the first generation (and a half?) in quite a while to have a worse outlook than their parents in terms of job availability, job stability, prospects of income, legal protections from abusive employers, and so on and so forth. Unions in the US are nearly dead, and Europe is still moving in the same direction. Fiscal and tax policy in pretty much all Western countries has moved in this direction since the sixties, but it's only recently reached critical mass, since economic growth has started to approach its inevitable ceiling. So: we have lower taxes (albeit with quite a few caveats attached) but the biggest difference by far is for high income groups and those with a lot of capital (not income), and in return we make less money, are forced to lead insecure lives where we're at the mercy of our employers, and have to pay out of pocket for an ever-increasing amount of what ought to be public services. Somehow that doesn't strike me as fair, no.

Ah, yes. All people have the same opportunity and ability to rise above their circumstances, regardless of what those circumstances are. Sure, keep dreaming. That is one of the most glaring logical fallacies of conservative/libertarian ideology. The thing is, poverty creates an environment where good long-term decision-making is a near impossibility, as the stress of short-term survival is so great as to render long-term planning near impossible. There are always exceptions, but that is exactly what they are - exceptions. If you have to struggle to feed yourself and your family, if you're working two or three jobs just to make ends meet - which is the reality for a lot of the working poor in the US - you don't have the luxury of taking a step back to plan ahead. This is what your argument entirely fails to address. The conditions for "mak[ing] good decisions with money and work[ing]" are simply not present, and as such expecting that is entirely unreasonable.

The same goes for people growing up in a society with deeply ingrained trauma, such as Native Americans. You're lambasting them for not making rational choices when they're dealing with living under a system of government that hasn't even apologized for committing genocide against them, stealing their land, and stripping them of their rights for centuries. I'd say that under those conditions, it's quite reasonable to not want to be a "good" or "productive" citizen of that society.
Hahahahahaha

Don't act like you know me.

How is that? They just reworked the side of NAFTA between each other. Hopefully Canada joins in.

I'm talking about the Mexico refugee situation. We may not necessarily want them here in the US but they are still fellow human beings and they deserve just as much respect as you and I. These people are seeking asylum from some really shitty situations and then when they come here they get treated as if they're less than human. Children, some as young as six or eight years old, are being separated from their parents and some are even being abused by the very people who are working in border patrol and immigration enforcement. That's some seriously messed up shit there.

They deserve respect as humans, but that doesn't mean you give them all of the rights of citizens. Those aren't the same things. Unless... you want to change that? But that's going to take more laws than what a mere president capable of. He's just enacting what laws are there. Even things like the seperation of families all happened before too.. even under Obama. The only thing that's new is the outrage. It's just more of the media manipulation I'm talking about.

Here's a good dose of media manipulation that truly sums up the kind of mindgames these people play (and it's reported from the Leftist Jimmy Dore I mentioned earlier). It shows just how far they'll go... even with nuclear war at stake.

P.S. Back to immigration. I'm a child of an immigrant myself. Except my mom did it legally... then worked worked tirelessly, learned English, got a GED, and became a small business owner. Don't mistake me as being indifferent or anything. I'm proud of her for this.

but that doesn't mean you give them all of the rights of citizens.
Nor should they, they're not citizens. However, to treat them like common filth is just a new level of wrong.

whether it be religion, politics or the defense of the innocent and even speaking against propaganda in the name of truth, I will speak my mind and I will also convey my opinion and will go as far to even state the truth! I dont give a damn who tells me otherwise as that goes into my deaf ear for disposal into the trash bin. I will agree not to bring it up BUT i will stand in defense of the truth whether that means being attacked or given infractions or perma bands or threats from manufactures. I will try to take the higher path but will not allow crapola info with out the rebuttal of my Two cents! Not only here on the internets but in real life too ;):peace:;) I would also like to add there is also a lot of big time crapola in this thread that doesn't even deserve a rebuttal to so instead of commenting i will sit here a laugh at the crapola that people actually believe in this thread.

I have a feeling "the truth" is basically your opinion in this case, judging from this comment. All good, makes it easier if I know that fact.

I think this says a lot about human stupidity. so, it's better to be inclusive than giving the job to someone that is the best at it. the cancer is real. :)

You sound mad. Facts don't care about your feelings buddy.

I don't think we should give Torvalds (or anyone else, for that matter) a free pass to insult someone or do something unprofessional. But banning contributors for whatever reason that has nothing to do with work (let's call it that), I don't get it. The whole thing about cis white males discriminating, excluding or harassing anyone else is a problem that far exceeds the boundaries of a software foundation/company/community and falls right into world-wide politics. I also feel like they are making it a bigger problem than it really is. Or maybe I live in a bubble or something...

And finally, aren't most Linux contributors anonymous? How the heck do they even know if most of them are cis white males? Heck, how could they know if they are mostly male, or cis, or white?

Even if they are, lets just take Linus, for example. If he's just supposed to be "representative" of some ethnicity (rather than simply himself). Finns have suffered plenty. Why my country (US) gets all the heroic WW2 movies is beyond me. People should brush up on their history.

How about the random kernel contributor from Poland? What the hell does anyone have on them, in recent history?

Calling them all simply "white" is pretty lame in itself.

That's what it's supposed to be. You should be able to contribute based upon what you know, your knowledge, not what or who you are. It shouldn't matter if you're black, white, Asian, Mexican, Italian, Polish, German, or green from Mars. It also shouldn't matter if you're a man or a woman. If you got the chops to write code and slog it out with the best of them, then you should have every right to be able to contribute to the Linux kernel. However, if your code either doesn't work correctly or it has more bugs than a roach motel it also shouldn't matter what you are, you and your code should be tossed out on the curb like yesterday's garbage.

lets just take Linus
In some ways I think Linus brought about some of this with how he acts. I've read some of his commentary on the Linux mailing list and some of the stuff he's written would make even an old sailor blush what with all of the swear words that he's used. There's putting someone in his/her place and then you have what Linus has done many times. There's a line that decent people know that you shouldn't cross when telling someone that they were wrong, Linus has crossed it many times.

I don't get the whole gender situation....everybody knows there are 10 types of people in this world....

Edit: Depending on your endian I guess

Oh he's definitely..... cantankerous? Someone said simply "asshole" earlier. Maybe that fits better. :D

I was just ranting about "white cis", and trying differentiate nations. Not really important, since I wouldn't want anyone to be held to that. It's kind of ridiculous.

Oh that's for sure, he can be a real asshole on the mailing list. A person once said that Linus doesn't understand how emotions work and that when he was younger he had his sister translate the world around him. If I had to use a pop culture reference to describe Linus I would use The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper from the earlier seasons.

I'm rather sad to see garbage like this at TPU. I know things have been going downhill for a while, with the forum posts now filled full of trolling, nastiness, hatred, and anger. It's a real turnoff to users who aren't into it, which I'm certain is the majority of us. It's also disappointing to see a TPU Staff Member, who I've previously respected, perpetuating it.

I'm also not surprised this is linked to HardOCP, considering I was banned from their site, a while back, for calling out someone who was being racist towards African-Americans. He was allowed to edit his post, which had been up for hours, so that it was only a little less racist, and a HardOCP staff member banned me after I questioned his support of the racism and the poster being racist. Texas, conservatism, and racism, at it's finest.

What's wrong with Texas? lol. It's bigger than most countries. You're going to find all kinds of people.

Would it make you feel better that I'm a half-Thai, half Scandi Texan who's got Black, Mexican, Asian, and White friends? And I'm not much different than many here. I've been here most of my life, and while I've had some racist experiences, it's not that common.

edit: I think the most accurate info now is those hurricanes. That's about it. Then you see people in these so called "racist" areas (Texas, Florida, Carolinas) just simply helping each other out. That's real. That's how the actual people are. They're not the subhumans these coastal news organizations usually broadcast out to the country or through their movie stereotypes... getting everyone else all anxious and shit. The sky is falling! The country has gone to hell. Racists! KKK! Nazis in the White House and running on the streets!

I wish people could be a little happier. All they have to do is relax.. and breathe the fresh air. Nothing is as bad as it seems.

Best post.

Best post.
I don't get that one either. Don't even know what "endian" means. Unless the whole thing is sarcastic...

I didn't get it either... but I think endian has something to do with file systems..
