wow, first time i heard from phantom in a longg time. they made the best vaporware ever.

Hm I don't know. Crysis you can forget on that machine I assume. However, I expected a price in the 5000s, so 1800$ is a nice suprise.

9800GT SLI? why not put a single GTX260 or 4870?

isn't 9800GT SLI better though?

doubt it. dont forget the memory isnt additive and they're talking 1080P. you'd really need that extra power for the high res.

oh wait.. 9800GT 512MB?
oh then yeah you're right then

even if they were 1GB, they lack memory power compared to the more modern cards.

oh.. "memory power"
as in.. bandwidth n stuff?

yeah. the 8800GT was designed for 256MB or 512MB of ram - putting more ram on it wont help it all that much. you need a higher bandwidth bus or higher clocked ram to really shine at the higher resolutions.

as great as the 8800GT's were/are for mid and low resolution, they dont handle as well at 1080P and above.

ahh okay
i get ya ;) :toast:

maybe the 9800GT option is because of the low profile case... :)

I haven't personally seen a low profile HD48XX or a GTX XXX. I have seen some 9XXXGT cards but.

It might be possible to fit a 48xx with a sideways bracket!? but I would like to see the back of this rig! ;)
