I expect this to be DA:Inquisition in Mass Effect universe, the sound that jetpack makes sounds familiar to some sound effect spells had in Inquisition.

PS: the 4k remark at the beginning is a stupid one IMHO.

Hmmm, looks decent. But until I see how weapon load out is done and ammunition. I will wait for reviews. EA is still on my list of do not buy after ME3 and Sim City. Then also the blasted online requirement of Need for Speed.
Why I stopped playing NFS, and ME3 multiplayer was kinda broken.

How so? Can you elaborate? I spent a couple hundred hours on there with a couple of good teams. Loads of fun!

Things like Krogan Biotics, and some classes being pretty much useless.

True enough...pretty much only 1/2 of what was available was played by anyone.

However, the two groups I played with did try to encourage everyone to use a different race and class, so that we were always well-rounded. I fell in with a good bunch of guys I guess, and lucked out.

That was Dragon Age 2, the worst sequel to a game that i can think of.

I thought so too, then went back and played it after DAI.....much better than I gave it credit for.

There are definitely some very underrated classes, unfortunately, I kind of just stopped after some weapons were starting to become annoying. If memory serves right the Scimitar(?) was kinda OP.

Ugh, I don't even try to bother with that game.

It was straight up crap for a RPG. Plus, pure laziness I ever saw in maps.

I do love the ME universe, but if they don't bring back some of the RPG elements like the first. I will not even bother with the game. There is enough other games I have or coming out that I can spend time on.

You know when I think of Mass Effect I think of heavy dialogue, RPG mechanics, coupled with shooting. This gameplay did nothing for me. It felt like I was watching Mass Effect the platformer.

It looked like I was watching ME2 with slightly better graphics. Which isn't a bad thing, although the 2nd game was the weak entry of the first series. Many sections throughout the series that were like that. Basic investigations along a narrow, straightforward path which was overly emphasized in the second game. You looked at something and held a button down to progress. Then you'd get attacked. Really reminds me of the Reaper/Collector sections of the second game.

Lets remember the first game was not a pure RPG, but just as much of a shooter. The RPG elements mainly came from the diolgue options which ended up having essentially zero effect on the major plot points which became clearly evident in the second game. The leveling system was nice, but overall it did nothing to change gameplay style, regardless of class. The weapons were the same for the most part. Dues Ex Human Revolution's augmentations actually could build a character suited for different situations better (stealth or combat oriented) and the weapons were more specialized.

I would like to see some more specialization in the new ME games, with different ways to approach a situation. Maps need to be opened up to allow for this, but I don't want another open world title that is barren but filled with linear areas such as the one shown above. That just adds the worst of both into one game.

the male and female Ryder are brother/sister and both exist in the game world and this is their father

Looks a bit like the Andromeda equivalent of Darth Vader.

Obviously it's just a quiet phase of the gameplay, transitioning through an area. The main focus was to show how the game will look in 4k.

True, it not a full RPG. But the 3rd one was so freaking dumb down in that part.
Especially with weapons. I pretty much ran through the darn thing without even bother changing out weapons because what was the point when you would pretty much just run around and blast the crap out of everything with overpowered shotgun.

At least in the first one I played around with different load outs of weapons and ammunition.

Yea you pointed out that right. No thrills on the second one, just the usual stuff quite similar to the first one.

Exactly but I'd expect barren open spaces (with extremely detailed terrain textures) for it to be able to run in 4K smooth motion blurred 30fps :D the rest will be corridors or limited distance visibility environments (like in the tech demo)

the 4k remark at the beginning is a stupid one IMHO.

Bingo :toast:

In other words, the one that ruins the series...?

Well, I don't think its rocket science to consider ME:A to be filler content-mania with some touches of actual hand crafted narrative and content. I think you will once again be able to lose about 60 hours of your life knowing and doing absolutely fuck all that leads to anything substantial, then finish off a boss or two. Done.

No but seriously. Its the formula of an RPG these days. They also consider it good game design to remove any and all character building and options because that's how RPG's get more interesting. When I saw the pace of that teaser video, I couldn't shake this impression.

I really hope I'm wrong though. I love the Mass Effect setting. Really liked ME1-3 with 3 starting to become copy-pasta. I also liked DA:O at the time, today I can't get around how clunky it is and DA2 is the ugly Quasimodo Bioware built while drunk or on LSD (proof: its the one game that keeps you going in circles around the same crappy, run-down areas). DA:I is basically continuing where ME3 left off in a negative way. Even less linearity, much more content, much less actually interesting gameplay.

I mean look at the way they started naming things. New trend: we don't do trilogies, we do Game Franchise: COOL WORD. That way people will think its not just a sequel and 'we' Bioware won't get flak for half-assing a great story (right? :D) Dragon Age 1 became DA:O. That alone says everything about how ME:A will be positioned just like DA:I.

Why do all the faces in Unreal Engine look like are made from glossy plastic???????????

Blame Hollywood
