Today at Meta Connect, Mark Zuckerberg joined leaders from Reality Labs at Meta and a few special guests to showcase our progress in making the metaverse a reality. We highlighted the incredible success of Meta Quest 2, discussed how virtual reality is becoming more social, and showcased innovations for fitness, gaming and work. We also revealed Meta Quest Pro, a breakthrough device that's bringing the physical and digital worlds one giant step closer together.

In recent years, we've shared a few details about our next VR device, which we called Project Cambria. Today, we're dropping the codename and introducing Meta Quest Pro. This high-end headset will begin shipping on October 25, priced at $1,499.99 USD. You can pre-order your Meta Quest Pro on meta.com. Meta Quest Pro is the first in a new line of advanced headsets built to expand the possibilities of virtual and mixed reality. Its pancake lenses fold light over several times, reducing the size of the headset while showing sharper visuals. A new, curved battery on the back helps make Meta Quest Pro a more balanced and ergonomic headset overall.

High-resolution outward-facing cameras capture 4X as many pixels as Meta Quest 2 and make Meta Quest Pro our first full-color mixed reality device. Imagine the possibilities when the physical and digital worlds can finally interact seamlessly, without you craning your neck to look down at a phone. It's also the first headset we've built that integrates inward-facing sensors to capture natural facial expressions and eye tracking. Raise an eyebrow, smile or simply make eye contact with someone, and your avatar will do the same. All of this helps improve social presence—the feeling that you're right there together with someone no matter where in the world you are.

Facebook here I come!!!

Gotta love the "look, from this one highly selective angle this looks really compact and unobtrusive!" marketing renders.

Also, that price is crazy.

I wonder how much the stock price will crash in 6 months when they see only like 3% of these sold and no one is using it. lol

I am sure plenty of youtubers and social media types will shill it and it hype it for a bit of side money tossed their way, but in the end this is DOA in the medium term.

Why would I want to put this on my head/face to have a business meeting or meet friends? and if I want to play games the Valve Index still beats it for that. so eh.

Given the price and focus on AR, this seems like a business push rather than anything even remotely consumer focused. Probably trying to get in on some of that MS Hololens action in various design and prototyping sectors.

Would be great if Meta integration wasn't forced.

Sadly this product is DOA for anyone who cares about controlling their own devices and having a semblance of privacy.

Would also be nice if this fluff piece contained useful information like what performance can I expect, can I link a pc to it etc.

But regardless, ffff hell no I have a occulus rift I'm not making the same mistake twice( tbf to me face#ook didn't own occulus when I bought it but damn there presence is felt).

"Fluff piece"? It's a press release from Meta. Press releases are posted verbatim, and are marked as press releases. What are you expecting?

I get you and I meant a fluff piece by Meta not Tpu.
It's light on information is all.

Hence why I added a link to their blog post, which has some info, but still not much.

Yeah, same reason I am going to buy it

I am just using an email and password for my Quest 2 now. That said I did get a privacy update regarding the Pro and about it capturing your eye and expression data. Doesn't apply to my Quest 2. The only real issue I had with removing my FB account(an ALt anyway) was getting the notifications in my HMD working again so I would know if someone messaged me for example(Technically not still got that 100% working again yet)

I was hoping this would be something to replace the Reverb G2 with ... but clearly it's not. WTF ... why??

Hopefully there will be a Reverb G3 in the near future with pancake lenses and an OLED panel. Just a little more resolution and a little more FOV and I'm sold.
Honestly, with the inner mask gasket removed, the FOV is close to my Index's. My eyelashes barely touch the lenses on both headsets lol. The Index FOV is definitely "good enough"

Who else here thinks that could be a biometrics security nightmare? Sure, we will integrate a 3D model of your face and present it to our servers in real-time, precluding anything like secure encryption! Nobody will take that free gift for overcoming facial recognition security. Not at all.

Gimme a cheap one with a cable and no cloud data link, and focus on the screens as the selling point. Heck, integrate miniature projectors into glasses.

Oh thank goodness....Thank you Mark Zuckerberg for getting us one step closer to completing the global reset and allowing us to live protected lives inside the matrix inside our concrete pods.
