There's no way I could recommend Photoshop or some of the other high end products without knowing at least something about the app.

Theres something called trial versions is there not?

I remember something about MS trying to get around paying taxes[from leases?] in India by saying they sold their product to the consumer instead of leasing it, yet in their EULA it clearly states the product is leased not sold....
