Might be a good time to try making windows phone a thing again

I am still angry the morons gave up on the market. Did they really expect to take like 1/5th of the marketshare in just a few years?

I shouldn't laugh, I loved Windows ME! So in a way we're equals there. However, I wouldn't trade Android for Windows Phone to save my life..

Is there a list of supported SoC's/dev boards anywhere?

Well it's been surprisingly stable on Parallels & VMware Fusion I have on the last Mac Mini (M2), in fact more than Windows on x86 :slap:

What I was looking for in the comments, cool! Not exactly susprising as it was already working in the past (with better emulation than on microsoft devices lol) but still nice to see. If only they allowed that to run on an iPad :ohwell:

The problem was they took way too long to come to market with something interesting and shot themselves in the foot at every turn - i.e. when they marooned the early adopters on windows phone 7.5 for no good reason while windows phone 8 was being released on budget devices first, then did it again while moving to windows 10; or when they tried to pull an Apple requiring windows 8, one of the worst received os's, be used to develop for windows phone 8. It was a crap show of mismanagement that took down not only Microsoft but they dragged Nokia, who was stupid enough to sign into exclusivity deals, down with them.

I really liked my cheap windows phone 8 lumia, it was better than all the cheap androids at the time, but app support was abysmal when the Android and iOS ecosystem was flourishing. The promised continuity between desktop and mobile was nowhere to found either.
