Mario Kart 7 also came out 7 years after Mario Kart DS. Even on identical hardware games tend to max out the systems much further on in the lifecycle--launch title games always look worse than EoL-era games. Comparing something like Halo 3 and Halo Reach you can see this difference.
I'm not expecting the 3DS to be a portable super-computer, but it's nowhere near the visual capabilities of the Vita, and isn't even as good as an what the iPhone is capable of. If the visuals are better it's not by much. I skipped the 3DS, and have only briefly dealt with a display unit one a few times.

LOL. What a stupid idea. People buy consoles because they don't want to bother with constant upgrading like PC gamers.
You upgrade your PC every 5 years? Well i guess that after 5 years there is not much point in upgrading since you must buy a new motherboard, cpu, gpu, ram, probably PSU and hdd. You might want to buy a new case. And optical drive. LOL. So if YOU "upgrade" your PC just 2 X in a decade then i feel sorry for you.Upgrading every 5 years is called "constant" ??
