Japanese display maker Mitsubishi released its latest addition to the DiamondCrysta series, the RDT233WX-3D. This 23-inch LED-backlit LCD monitor with stereoscopic 3D capabilities uses an in-plane switching (IPS) panel that can provide 178°/178° viewing angles. With full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080), the panel features response time of 3.8 ms (GTG), a honest-sounding 5,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1,000:1 static contrast), and its display inputs include HDMI 1.4, DVI, and D-Sub.

The Mitsubishi DiamondCrysta RDT233WX-3D features stereo 3D support, and bundles a pair of 3D glasses; Giga Clear II image enhancement engine that adjusts various image parameters dynamically to give out the best image quality; and PIP (picture-in-picture) function. 2W stereo speakers are embedded. Its stand is designed to allow height and tilt adjustments. Slated for release by the end of May, the Mitsubishi DiamondCrysta RDT233WX-3D is expected to be priced at 52,800 JPY (US $645).

I've been waiting forever for an IPS 3D monitor !

I'm buying it once it available, hopefully it won't get screwed up while being shipped.
 
This better be 120hz refresh or gtfo.

Most of the LCDs you see out there have TN or TFT panels which distorts the color spectrum of the monitor when you are looking at the screen at a left/right/too high/too low angle. Its just not good at all IMO. IPS panels are used in most TV sets now and just now starting to trickle in on the monitor market. It makes the viewing angles a LOT more bearable.

AFAIK, Panasonic is the one that uses IPS the most, and Sony uses PVA, whereas the rest tend to still use TFT/TN.
If there's been a change, I'd like to know when & by whom..

Oh ok. I forgot about all those other different panels haha. IMO, ANY panel is better than a TN/TFT.
So, I probably should've worded it like this then:
edit: Most TV sets don't use TN/TFT panels anymore. :D
Or is that a questionable statement too? :confused:

Mitsubishi already had a 120 Hz IPS monitor before this one, though it used motion interpolation for the effect. And even this uses HDMI 1.4 so it's not really meant for gaming, at least not on 3D Vision. I'd figure it might work with AMD HD3D though. That is if you live in Japan and/or can get one of these and don't mind the pricetag.

What? Why not? HDMI 1.4 currently supports 4096x2160 @ 24Hz. That's just to show how much bandwidth it has available. What's wrong with HDMI? Why isn't it suited to gaming? :wtf:

Because it can't do 1080p @120 Hz. You'll get either 720p @60 fps or 1080p @24 fps with 3D on. It's enough for consoles, but not for 1080p PC 3D gaming. Of course if you don't do 3D it's fine.

heh i have ati radeon 5870 can i use this monitor for 3d gaming???
if not what might be a proper solution???
