Although I don't do gamz, and although they're not specifically targeted at the gamr crowd, I can tell you that the Logi MX Master 2's are some of the longest lasting, most comfortable and ZERO software required tail-free rodents I have ever used....no they don't have 12-18 buttons or whatever, but just sayin....

I just retired my oldest one a few weeks ago, which had been going without fail for over 6.5 yrs throughout all my spreadsheetin, CAD-manipulatin, video/image processin exploits for an average of 65-70 hrs per week :)

I've been using the G502 (the original version) and I've not seen the behavior you're describing once. I'm not even sure how a mouse could issue "strafe" instead of "turn. It's either a problem in the software (easily fixed, G502 has internal memory, once you configure it you can uninstall the software altogether) or you just messed up mapping controls.
did it right out of the box, my G305 doesnt do it so no idea why the G502 did and it was 2 of them, both brand new, i hadnt mapped anything, was all default.
Same here and surprisingly, not once since going wireless has the mouse cord got tangled up in my feet or pulled the mouse onto the floor. Nor has it moved the mouse pointer from where I put it! :D ;)

@xu^ - the reality is, everyone can offer up their suggestions and opinions, and they can comment on the build quality and functionality of the buttons and wheels. But not one of them can tell you how any mouse (or keyboard) will feel in YOUR hands.

These HIDs (human interface devices) are extensions of our own hands and fingertips. What "feels" great in my hand may feel awkward or even painful in yours. You need to find a computer store and go play touchy-feely for yourself.

Try to place the mouse at the same height and distance from you as it would if sitting on your desk. You need the "angle of approach" to be the same. This will affect how it feels on your wrists, elbows, and shoulders too. Just remember those demo mice have been abused and may not function correctly.

And take a bottle of hand sanitizer with you.
id love to but here in the UK theres not really any shops that have things like that out for you to try. more a case of buy to try, the send back if not what you want, a long tedious process sometimes.

Logitech at its natural habitat (there's a reason I've gone from a G502/G810 pair to optical-equipped Razers). Have you considered replacing the switches, if you have soldering skills?

never touched a soldering iron in my life, not about to start now :D

Hi,
All mice are mass produced man lol

Correct and that doesn't change the fact that difference mice have different levels of fit, finish, and quality.

Like I said I have three 901's and no issues over like 5-6 years with any of them.

Nothing wrong with anecdotal evidence and no one is saying everyone will have an issue. That said this comment doesn't really dispute my claims in regards to their quality, fit, and finish. You can like a product despite it having a high pre-travel distance, wobbly buttons, or a coating that doesn't provide optimal grip in all scenarios. Of the people I know (including friends and clients) the average lifespan of Red Dragon products has been 6 months to a year. Red Dragon is more or less the modern day OCZ, probably a bit better actually.

If it really triggered a different action while holding down the mouse button, it would do the same on the desktop, you wouldn't be able to drag and drop anything.

The G502 has a tilt-able mouse wheel. You can press it left or right, you're not accidently fat-fingering the mouse wheel and pressing up against it when you push down on the left mouse button, are you? In the image below #9 & 10, the scroll wheel you can press to the left or right to scroll left and scroll right.

I'm not sure if tilting the mouse wheel would even be mapped to the game you're playing, but just a guess.

@neatfeatguy Neah, it's hard to do that, the RMB is grooved to keep your finger away from the wheel. I've just tried it, it's a super-weird position for the finger.
But like I said above, if it would trigger a different action in-game, it would trigger a different action everywhere.

I can vouch for the quality and versatility of the G305, and I have a simple story to back it up.
Since I have very short fingers and therefore small palms, I was in the endless search for an ergonomic shape to accommodate my needs. So I tried various cheap mice, Amazon basics, M187, and many wired ones through the years.
Thing is that I already owned G305 (got it on the recommendation from Optimum Tech, now just Optimum ), and a Bloody A91. Bloody is the branch of the A4Tech brand, and under Bloody they have some really good ones. They're proven to be reliable, and a good performers by being abused at the PC gaming clubs, where I got the recommendation from in the first place, as the seller was the club's owner as well. Trusted the guy, and had no regrets TBH.
The modification I did to it is just removing the ballast, and saving around 60-80g, can't really remember RN. If someone's interested, I can find the weight, and check with the precision scale for the exact numbers. The A91 is discontinued, and it never was their top tier one. But it is the best wired one I've ever used or even tried so far. The shape is very ergonomic, even though it's not a small one to begin with. The G305's wheel is a joke compared to it, for example.

Now, concerning the G305... I had to eventually get back to it, after trying some of the mentioned laptop oriented garbage tier toys. Being ambidextrous, no one can say it's really ergonomic, but it's kinda universal to even things out. I just use it without the lid, as the bump on it makes it hard for me to reach one of the side buttons, loosening the grip, and elevating the palm from the table for even lesser precision. I will probably get a new one and make some modding. Grips and skates first come in mind. Yeah, a purple one this time. And switches, well, not so soon.

The traits of living in a 3rd world country.
Even factory ones are nice though. Should I mention I dropped the damn thing from the armchair, table to the wooden floor so many times I'm surprised it's still in one piece. A living legend indeed.

Also edit: Fellow forum dwellers should be aware that English isn't my native language. Even though I have no trouble using it, typing live chats, discord voice channels etc., to make posts like this one it involves a lot of effort, and the most precious resource in the world - time. Correcting grammar, spelling, editing photos and whatnot consumes it like nothing else. The majority of my posts therefore are edited at least once, and couple of times regularly.

Yeah they have lots of models think @lexluthermiester just got one with 2 side thumb buttons.
Yup! The Ranger. It's actually got three on the left side. Very sleek. I like it a lot. Using it for my laptop currently.

hi all, last couple of years ive been using a Logitech G305 (wireless) and overall its been pretty good, but after something with maybe extra buttons and a better grip ( for online gaming)

Now due to a couple of friends recommending the Logitech G502 X (wired) i bought that and now having major problems with it, returned it and got a replacement, which is also doing the same thing.
The problem with it is in games (fps) with certain weapons where holding down the fire button, the mouse instead of turning while you aim, seems to start start strafing instead.
Ive tried loads of diff settings on the mouse to no avail, reinstalling the software, using the mouse with and without the software, changing dpi and report rates, going thru all the windows mouse settings & spent a couple of hours googling the problem, nothing has fixed the problem.

Strangely my G305 does not have this problem, so im baffled.
Gutted tbh as i actually love the feel of this mouse, it just doesnt work how every other mouse ive had does.

Anyway, so ive given up with this model and going to return for a refund, so im after a reasonable wired gaming mouse ( preferably in white if possible )
That has a decent grip/feel.
Seems to be so many brands around these days im a bit lost.

so basically im after

Wired ( as wireless are just to expensive )
Good grip/feel
extra buttons more than 5 what most mice seem to have.
up to around £70

white would be a bonus

and based on this G502 X , id say probably not Logitech :)

Thanks for any suggestions.
The Logitech G502X is not the "same" as the G502 HERO, i think the g502 HERO is the best gaming mouse (in my opinion)
