MSI updated its flagship Gaming series socket LGA2011V3 motherboard portfolio with an upgraded variant of the X99S Gaming 9 AC, the X99S Gaming 9 ACK. The "K" in the "ACK" stands for "Killer," denoting the board's Killer DoubleShot Pro feature, which lets you team up your wired gigabit Ethernet, with WLAN, to produce a staggering 1.866 Gbps of bandwidth, at low latency. In other words, the board features a Qualcomm Killer WLAN controller, instead of the Intel-made one on the standard X99S Gaming 9 AC. The wired gigabit Ethernet interface is care of a Killer E2205 controller, whereas the WLAN interface is handled by a Killer 1525 chip, which supports 802.11 ac, in addition to Bluetooth 4.0. The rest of this board's feature-set is identical to that of the X99S Gaming 9 AC. MSI will formally announce the board later this month.

The sound somebody makes when choking something up.

Why so many gaming today? Asus Republic of gamers, gigabyte gaming g1, msi gaming, Galaxy gamer.....

Slapping the Gaming label on product helps to sell it.

The perception probably is that is where the money is,.....?

Companies don't cater to groups that won't buy there products at a price point they are willing to sell. So these companies clearly think its worth investing in the "Gaming" L33T $#!t "all your head shots belong to us", where's teh demo crowd,...

Dear MSI,
Do us all a favor and fire your designers.
Sincerely,
Everyone with eyes
I along with others like it so their designers are obviously doing a good job. In fact I bought one of the AC variants...

Well MSI, this is quite odd to wait before releasing something with this extra feature set. Not releasing this at launch probably won't give it extreme sales in the end because most of the initial hype is gone. But its sales are going to depend on how much more it is than the standard Gaming 9 AC because that board was already up there on price and this one is sure to be more but by how much we will have to wait and see.

Actually I hate the word "game". I think some traditional words like up7/ud7, oc formula, xpower Big Bang can make me excited. But the people who are not DIYer like us, maybe they love game. Lol I love oc actually.

It's certainly not the worse thing I've ever seen, but I partially agree with a previous poster regarding it's looks. Something odd about the MSI logo heatsink vs. the heatsink in the center of the board vs the large lettered I/O vanity plate. There's three different styles going on and they don't mesh well.

The Killer NIC & wireless isn't all that bad, you just need to not use the Killer app. Though it would be best to be wired whenever possible I only recently have been using the wireless on my motherboards.

The I/O plate really leaves a lot to be desired.
