MSI announced a pair of minimalist lateral blower-equipped GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 970-based graphics cards, under the OC V1 series. The two don't feature flashy TwinFrozr cooling solutions, or even over the top features, but offer PCBs that are close to NVIDIA's reference design, albeit with MSI's own copper channel-flow heatsinks. The GTX 970 OCV1 offers factory-overclocked speeds of 1076 MHz core, 1216 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.00 GHz memory. The GTX 980 OCV1, on the other hand, offers clock speeds of 1152 MHz core, 1252 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.00 GHz memory. Both cards feature 4 GB of memory across 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interfaces.

......black plastic? Is MSI really that proud of their sticker?

I hope they release a lightning version of this. So far all of the 980s I have seen are ugly as hell.

The only (serious) question here is: does this plastic enclosure offer equal cooling as the "Titan" style enclosure?

Does that really matter? You stick it in your computer and forget about it. Forget about looks, I only care about performance.

It matters to me, I have a completely acrylic see through case. So I see everything. Not everyone appreciates their hardware, I do.

Sucks for you then I guess.

Why does it make you laugh? Some people people spend money on art, others adore cars, I like good looking components that match an existing color scheme. To each their own, I'm sure you have something you like to spend your time/money on that others might think is ridiculous. Live and let live my friend.

this card is for water-cooling. you don't need to spend money on a good cooler since your are going to water-cool this card.i guess the price will be a little lower then reference card.

this looks like a 2008 graphics card. I'm probably going to get the Twin Frozr version, even though it's £20 more than the cheapest Zotac

The purpose is to be cheaper, so if you gonna make watercooling that's make you saving money

do they not make them available with no cooler like they do with OEM CPUs ?

MSI chose to redo the stock cooler into this??? :shadedshu:

This is definitely the least attractive new cards just released.

Apparently, I've seen elsewhere, that any blower-type coolers for the 970 will not be the beautiful aluminum housing that reference 780, 780Ti, Titan, and 980 have, because it's expensive to produce. It's a pity, because it's quite a nice cooler in both looks, low noise and in heat dissipation. I for one would pay extra for a 970 with one of the Titanesque reference coolers. But this thing by MSI? It reminds me of a GTX 285, which is what, 5 years ago? I suppose if it has same cooling performance I'd consider it...

I hoard my money. I dont really spend it on anything outside of bills. But agree. To each their own.
