OF COURSE there are hidden agreements between Intel and the mainboard-producers! Well, at least that's my opinion. They are doing business together. A heightening of the prices like the one that's going on is for sure not to push off to the costs of materials. Those will cause a heightening of the production costs for each board at max. 1 Dollar. Even a few cents do sound more realistic.

Seriously if the salaries of your workforce increase by 10% and your material costs jump by 60%(from 6k$/ton to 10k$/ton) your hands are tied and you have to increase your final product price.

Look at the facts! Prices on everything are going up. Food, fuel, metal Both raw and finished. That is the reason...nothing else. China is buying up resources like crazy on top of that, including resources for electronics inclluding copper and gold, aluminum, so supply and demand plays a role as well. ALL these things result in higher prices. Its really quite simple. The instability in the world is certainly going to effect world prices on all goods everywhere, some of course more than others.

prices of raw materials world wide are on the rise. it is called inflation and it is really starting to ramp up. your dollar,euro,whatever is losing buying power so things will cost more, especially raw materials. the revolutions in the middle east are also raising oil prices. plastics are made from oil.

Not that it's MSI hardware in general costs way too much what it's worth. P67 boards for instance there's not a single decent looking board and tech sucks with 7-11 blocks here there.

It is hilarious that we have come so far that boards costs more than 150 $ a piece no matter what miracle you drop on it and CPUs costs so much. The good news is it all stops somewhere
and people just will not pay to get hardware. Those few who get high end equipment will most likely also see that buying new are begin to be worthless so at CPU as well as motherboard side.

Software developers does currently extremely good job so nobody will buy hardware. There is no need for new as there is no applications utilizing even half that we have thanks to consoles.

Not true. If you want cheap, there's plenty if you look around. Example

So for 150$, you can get a complete bare-bone system. Just gut an old system for the rest of the components and you've got yourself a working HTPC system.
