MSI Raises Price of RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X in a Week: Underpriced Just for Reviews?

I remember a couple of years ago, with 2000 bucs you could have build a very powerful gaming machine with all necessary parts. Now you pay that amount for just a stupid video card.
Obscene.
Those callous greedy companies have no limits it seems.

The problem isn't the greedy companies, the problem is the whales, the idiots, paying these prices.
Why shouldn't a company that have shareholders sell for 2000$ when there are idiots willing to pay that? that would be bad management. I really can't blame them.

As long as there is whales, idiots in a market the rest is screwed. Oh the horror these prices, proceeds to queue for one *facepalm*

I doubt people buying these sort of things care that much to be honest.
Isn't it a normal thing? I'm not saying people should care more because that is not going to happen, I'm saying those that disagree with the prices, should make some arrangements and not buy the overpriced cards no matter what the reviews say. No matter what the perf per $ is since that is fools errand to look at it that way. It will always be better no matter how you slice it. You should get more for less and more choices when there's more things available. If a lot of people wont buy, the cards will drop in price no matter what. But if they start jerking off and drool whenever somebody mentions new card release and hype it then the prices will only go up no matter how much the initial cost of the card is.

I am just saying the kinds of people that could afford one of these likely wouldn't care much whether they are paying 1500$ or 2000$.

Something like a 4090 is a low volume product, few will be made and few will be sold, is it a shitty thing to provide a fake price for a review ? Kind of, although prices will always change after the launch of a product.

Craziness. I bought mine at $1709 at microcenter 5% below MSRP with members. Facepalm squared!
Reminder MSI was caught scalping last time as well.

MSi and Nvidia... the perfect pair when it comes to dodgy marketing.

I feel bad for reviewers, doing value assessments has becoming increasingly hard as companies pull bait and switches like this with increasing frequency.
That's why I think reviews should not include value assessments. Listing relative performance compared to other products should be enough for anyone to judge a product's value based on their local store's prices.

But the problem is right now there isn't really enough people doing it, so the revenue is plummeting. And will continue to plummet. And Nvidia is pointing at us, spoiled consumers, that want too much for too little.

Saying that "4090 are sold out" says very little. We have no idea how the market is behaving, what are numbers of sold cards, apart from quarterly revenue numbers.

That's why cards like the 4090 cost so much, and I bet the 5090 will cost even more. The fewer people buy these luxury items (because these are luxury items), the higher margins Nvidia will have to operate with. They proved in the last two generations that they don't care about gamers on a budget, so why not make 10x more money on 10x fewer people and establish themselves as the Rolls Royce of GPUs?

I understand what you're saying, but if you read their statements, the quarterly are down because of the economic crisis and the end of crypto, not their pricing, and are they wrong when you see the queues?

Make no mistake they aren't making any correlation between pricing and revenue down, and i honestly i can't see how we can do one either looking at the queues and sold out cards. We'll have to see how it goes with the 4080, 4070 and so on, but if things go like with the 4090 be prepared to have to endure the new pricing and thank the gamers for it. Blaming Nvidia makes no sense.

I was showing up as $1749.99 for me yesterday and is still showing up as $1749.99 on MSI's US store. All the retailers are still showing $1749.99 prices and it was $1749.99 yesterday on BestBuy and Amazon when they had a few in stock for a minute.

Hi,
Think most are already doing this not sure they need much of an argument it's mostly obvious

Exception is people with more dollars than sense so they don't play buyers markets they play sellers markets thus make us wait longer for price drops.
The others are just quick flip scalpers fishing for suckers just like they did during the mining craze times.

Not really, the reasoning is market was healthy back then, they sold tons of cards. Now they're selling less cards, margins have to be greater.

;-)

Nvidia just doesn't care about gamers. That's why we'll get 1500 EUR 4080 and apparently 1200 EUR 4070 (instead of 4080 12GB, much better).
Does it really? I think there will be a course correction here soon enough.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia does the "crazy Ivan" for more than two years, keeps the prices very high, bitches all the time on how gamers are an unreliable customers, and waits for another cryptocraze? You know, like they did with the Turing (RTX 20X0).

And sorry, I haven't seen any queues for RTX 4090 cards. There are literally dozens of EU stores who still have cards in their stock or can get them in a couple of days, waiting for us to order. That hasn't happened in Ampere launch for months afterwards.

With thin margins and poor outlook I wouldn't be surprised if they manipulating the situation to cause a buy panic prices going up quickly buy the $1749 to $1799 card before it goes up another few hundred dollars . It's survival of the market manipulator out there!

To be fair, I'm one of those people. I can afford the 4090 especially if you consider my 6900xt during pandemic cost $1700. That was the price I paid so there isn't a lot of difference between my card and the new 4090. Not happy about it but did not have much choice during that time and had to pull a trigger on the card.
I'm thinking about, just because you can afford it, doesn't mean you should buy it. I'm sure there's people who will buy anyway. I'm not one of those. The pandemic is over so the prices should be normal and yet these are not so I refuse to purchase anything for current prices.

Yeah, everyone wants a quick penny but that is not going to happen on a scale it was previously. At least that is what I think but I know how dumb people might be so anything is possible.
