DP is a poorly engineered connection, inflexible cable and poor contact with female plug/jack is a design fubar. Remember the old VGA screws, this is what DP needs.
Still better than hdmi,

I am conncting my GPU using the same DP cable i had for long time (it came with the monitor if my memory still good)
I checked your monitor's manual. Indeed, high refresh rates are only supported on DP, but anything over 144 Hz isn't guaranteed. HDMI only supports 60 Hz, but I would try it for troubleshooting nonetheless.

If all else fails, swap the power supply for that Antec. Your system will easily run on a quality 750 W PSU.

Power looks good. Try reseating the memory. I didn't see that you tried that.

LGA sockets are more sensitive for bad contact. Try to reseat the processor as well.

Okey time for some updates, what have i done so far?

1. OK so after i Uninstalled the last GPU driver i had with DDU - I did that due to @eidairaman1 request to read the PSU to GPU volts without drivers installed - i wasnt installing the driver again but the next time i restarted my computer i run windows update again and it automatically installed a GPU driver for me (remember any driver i tried installing before from amd.com crashed).
The driver i got is some kind of "Naked" driver - it doesnt have any GUI. i will add GPU-Z picture with the details.
1685886201961.png

2. I then run the sfc scan with /restorehealth according to the video guide @eidairaman1 posted here. - and it reported to repair some error. then i did another scan to verify and everything was good!

3. After i went and loaded a game, i let the game sit open for 2-3 hours and it didnt crash so far. i am feeling like it is a small step i dont know if problem is gone its too early to say.. a small step YES but still a way to go before i am fully satisfied. (remember my experience still not good cus my memory runs slow @ stock speed + my GPU doesnt have any of the Adrenaline options available + my cpu doesnt have any undervolt / curve optimizer set up - that also means my temperatures are not as good as they could be).

4. I cleared the CMOS.

5. I didnt stop there - i run the memory tests:

Memtest86 - 4 cycles - Pass - No errors
LOG:

TestMem5 - 25 cycles - Pass - No errors

LOG:
========= TestMem5 Log File =========
Customize: Default @1usmus_v3
Start testing at 14:59, 880Mb x16
Testing completed in 1:10.05, no errors.

Things i have not done yet:
- change power supply idle in bios to typical
- run Prime95 / Furmark / 3dmark
- no expo / xmp or any tweak to RAM / CPU or GPU.
- I didnt change PSU.
- I didnt change the DP cable.

What should i do next? ( I am currently running 30 Min VRAM test in OCCT - 80% )
edit* My VRAM Test passed with no errors

Remove processor from socket. Check LGA socket for bent pins or damage. After that place the processor back into the socket.

Well, i want to thank everyone who took part in fixing this.
SADLY i feel like this is out of our hands. Nothing is working.
I found another warning that appear in the event viewer just when i crash
"Display driver amdwddmg stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Event ID: 4101
I was trying to look it up and learn what it is - all it lead to me is to find more and more people complaining about their problems and they tried many fixes just like me without any success.

I have decided i will return the GPU.
I would like to have 1 last advice, i have the opportunity to send back the CPU as well.
Im pretty much locked to the AM5 platform (i cannot return the MOBO.. would be too much of a trouble)
so even if i am sending the CPU back most likely i will just have to buy 7800X3D again.
Under these circumstances - question is - do i have any reason to believe i have a BAD CPU? should i keep it or send it?
and
Would you assume after getting a RTX 4080 all these problems would go away?

Thank you.

I mean...........it's certainly an option, it's more or less what I did (except not 4080) after trying what I could.......

But I really do not understand what is stopping you from trying the two easy suggestions mentioned before (trying a different PSU, and buying a new certified DP cable from a good brand (ie. Club3D)). It has worked for other people and clearly you have the benefit of a return policy judging from what you are saying about the CPU

OCers don't use memtest86 to determine the stability of a specific profile. Run some quick Testmem5 with 1usmusv3 config if you want to definitively rule out memory.

I will try a new DP cable but my return window is about to come to an end soon.
As for the PSU - i have uploaded screenshot from Hwinfo64 and was told that the volts are looking good.
All the information i got so far really point at the GPU to be the problem. even more likely that it the drivers are fking up more than a physical problem in the GPU itself but you never know..
I mean i wish i didnt have any of this.. i was very excited getting the 7900 xtx.. but what can you do..
this trip wasnt fun and im going to lose some money too..

Im still at the point to get any advice but if nothing left to say then i probably ship it back. just not sure if i should also send the CPU..

Okay, great, not the RAM then.

I see what you mean about the DP cable, if you can't go to a nearby store to get one.

Reliability of software readings for PSU rails is borderline worthless, unless you have a software-monitored PSU (e.g. AX1600i). The only time they would show anything worthwhile is if there are serious problems with your PSU. That's not the problem here, more the (remote) possibility that the PSU you have just doesn't really like your card. Same deal with the DP cable, it doesn't have to be defective, just that Navi31 is picky (which it has been for many people).

In that case you may as well give Ada a try. Never know unless you try. At least that will help you troubleshoot, regardless of whether the issues stay the same or go away with a 40 series card.

@tabascosauz thanks mate, i will consider this and see if i still got time to make these last attemp before raising my hands.
im an old dog.. 34 years old and i been using computers my whole life. I had my last PC for 6 years without a single issue!! (8700k with 1080ti, maximus x hero mobo)
now having to deal with this im really asking myself if hardware today just look good on paper or did i just get super unlucky.. or... does AMD suck? i honestly believed i am making the right choice building around AMD. it feels super awkward now. i did my research and all these problems went under my radar. now that i get to see how many people having issues with AMD it is already late.

I would describe it as hardware and drivers just being very complex these days, and AMD's technical aspects are sometimes less well-understood (AMD locking down RDNA3 doesn't help either). There are a lot of quirks and issues with new hardware that you simply won't know about until you experience them for yourself. For example x issue that affects someone else might not affect you, and vice versa. At least, that's the nicest way I can put it, anyway.

Sometimes the solution is not intuitive or logical (DP cable + HX1000 fixed my 7900XT crashing, very similar to yours). Sometimes there is no solution at all (MPO+Gsync randomly deciding to work or not work).

Amd doesnt suck, trade the card for another.

I've been building rigs since 1999, first AMD was an Athlon XP 3200 in 2003 and it still is working. My worst system was a P4 533 2.4GHz 2002-such a fucking turd. My Signature Rig is a FX, the rig I built in Christmas 2021 is a Ryzen 7 5800, all have been flawless, so your blanket statement is garbage

Honestly i dont know, i was asking (with a question mark) and i said that it might be bad luck. I resort to this assumption after looking for days and seeing how many people were having issues.. ofc that doesn't mean any other company have less issues..

So lets say if i were to get another XTX like the Nitro+ 7900xtx.. what are the odds im gonna get the same problem?
Parts are made in batches and not everything in a batch is tested(if they were prices would be inflated) this happens on both amd and nv parts have you thought about buying the gpu from elsewhere? Also what about a 7900XT Nitro?

Lets just take for example the p4 mobo I had was a turd because as soon as i moved to skt A the same exact gpu I had ran flawlessly without having to use a beta bios or disable ulps and use beta chipset drivers

I've had a SB ZXR card come to me DOA, I rmad with Creative Labs directly as it was outside 30 days return to amazon in 2014.

Sapphire RMA dept is Althon Micro
