hey guys
I build my setup
I'll use the Strix 2080 Super
I have a few questions
1: is the cooling system overkill for 14700K?
2: Antec vs corsair psu?
3: Is the motherboard and CPU strong enough for future GPU upgrades?

overall it is looking good for heavy gaming?

thx :)

1. I would say the cooling is overpriced not overkill it will cool the same or worse than the LFIII 360.
2. I mean you likely wouldn't notice the difference on the PSU I would go with whatever one is cheaper Vs the 1000 RMx
2. Nobody knows how these cpu's will scale with future generations both vendors have new platforms coming soon so if you have a platform that is a good match for your 2080 super its better to wait unless you need the extra cpu horsepower now.....

Buy something based on it's performance today not any future magic ball guess of how it will stack up in a year or 2.

If you plan to upgrade to a 5090 maybe if you go 5080 or lower probably not at 1440p or above but, everyone games differently so that is a very hard question to answer.

For mobo if dead set on lga 1700 I would be looking at the
Aorus Elite X wifi 7 or Tomahawk Max they should only be slightly more than the elite X and offer wifi 7 and are a bit updated and the elite X is 8 layer vs 6 layer on the Aorus elite AX.

if you can stretch it to the Elite pro x wifi 7 I would.

For sure.

Hold on to that 2080 Super for now, new gen GPU launches are just around the corner.

so 14700k with 4080 ti in 1080p/2k should be fine overall

4080ti is dead isn't going to be a thing as much as I hate dusting off the crystal ball a 5080 assuming it's ballpark 4090 performance would be a good pair at max settings 1440p or higher

Even the fastest cpus can bottleneck a 4090 in some games even at 4k so it really depends on the games you want to play.

But you are better off waiting till Ryzen 9000 and Core ultra come out on desktop later this year at a min Z790 and 14th gen will drop in price ryzen 9000 might do that alone as it is and that's a little over a month away.

Not saying you should but 14th gen and Z790 will probably drop a bit in price at or around it's launch. But yeah 15th gen is your best bet If you want to maximize the platform you'll get at least one upgrade option on that socket vs 0 on lga 1700.

If you need something RN, the 14700K is nothing to sneeze at.

its worth the wait because its a platform that could last you upwards of a half decade..... With 14th gen you have the option of a minimal gain with an i9 processor and that's it dead so unless you are getting it for relatively cheap I don't think it's worth investing into just my 2 cents though.

That being said I would get a decent board either way plenty of usb, good vrm, wifi 7 if that's important etc something that looks like you won't have fomo later on. The 250-320 usd range has a lot of good options from every board maker so while you wait just do your research and if one of the upper tier boards drops in price and you decide not to wait any longer jump on it.

If you want the best NVMe SSD don't fall for the "Pro" marketing bullshit from Samsung.
Read some reviews from Tech sites such as this one and get the best value for your money.

2: Antec vs corsair psu?
1: Not at all.
2. Corsair if between those 2 are the only options. Pretty sure (like 99.999%) they use Seasonic PSU's. If you had more options, EVGA or Seasonic, directly.

no i didn't buy nothing yet

You will need to wait for Z890
Will the z890 will out at the same time as the 15th?

Yes, Z890 motherboards will come out alongside the Core Ultra CPUs you're referring as 15th gen (Intel dropped the Core i branding, so the 14th gen is the last technically).

Between those two I'd personally pick the Corsair. Cheers
