New RTX 5090 + 9800X3D build: ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI a good choice?

the X870E chipset didn't seem to be much of an upgrade so i opted for the X670E chipset and went with the ASUS TUF Gaming mobo

do you think i'll be okay with a 2x24GB DDR5 + RTX 5090 + 9800X3D setup for the long haul?

As long as it has all the connectivity you need then sure. When it comes to motherboards everyone's use case is different, if you don't think anything else offers you features you might need then it's a fine board.

I wanted dual 5.0 nvme and wifi 7 so it really limited my options.

Personally I really like the X870E nova from asrock if I was buying a board today but that's a lot for than the Tuf.

To be fair the difference between X670/X870 is very minimal and in some cases I'd rather have the X670.

The x670e tuf is a very good motherboard with military grade component. It won't hold back performance at all. Its midrange, not entry level.

The main difference between entry/midrange and enthusiast class of motherboards are features...but performance wise, you'll be more than fine with any midrange motherboard.

Even a B650E board would not change performance the only thing a board might not be good at is default timings of the ram but that will at most drop performance by 5% in cpu limited scenarios. The problem is that can even change bios to bios on the same board. Most X670E boards I've had to tighten the timings a bit to get the most out of them. Asrock boards in my experience offer the best boot times if that matters not sure about X870 though, I doubt I will work with any of those any time soon.

I'm not telling the dude to go and buy a X870E Godlike, you know. But at least something that has a q-code reader, higher quality PCB, and higher priority BIOS support - after all, it is a high-performance machine.

Yeah, I got a feeling i'm gonna be flipping my 4080 soon. I'll pick something up to tide me over until the 50 series arrives, but I'm probably gonna sell it soon.

This hasn't been true at least since the Intel Z170 generation. By the Z97, the TUF boards were already shedding the high-quality components, steel plating etc. as "optional", making the Sabertooth Z87 pretty much the last board to ever have been built to that standard. It's 11 years old already. It's just the ASUS midrange. That's all it is nowadays.

We have similar spec currently , I have no need to upgrade at all.

Right on , my 4090 ,Asus X570 Dark Hero , 5950X and RAM is a big investment $3348 plus $276 in tax , purchase new MSRP ,I game at 4K , current games I play , have a wonderful experience , RT

Depends on the games you play in a lot of games I play the 7950X3D was a large increase over the 5950X so it just depends even at 4k.... at 1440p it's 20-30% sometimes more.

The 9800X3D will definitely be way faster than the 5950X. I upgraded from it to the 13900KS and it was already massive. I think it's worth the leap.
