Any units without APFC or without PFC at all especially

I find that ridiculous advice, so am not sure I trust the rest.
I agree. Also these guys are really new, wet behind the ears new. But you have to start somewhere

My very first PSU was an Ultra unit from Tiger Direct(965BE). Within a week I was getting random shutdowns. As it was my first PC I brought it to my local PC repair store.. I went back the next day and was informed it was my PSU. The next PSU I bought was the Corsair 850TX. The next PSU I bought after that was a HX1200I. Both of those units are fulling working in running systems. I can't speak for today but Corsair mid to high end PSUs in my experience are pretty much bullet proof. I see that there are some questions about Multi rail. It was actually great for Mutli Gpu setups, especially when we started getting over 200w power draw for each card. I had to use Multi rail with my Vega 64 crossfire array. If you have 1 card though it is not as important.

Why? Tell me, please... I'm just curious (because i'm using GP-AP1200PM with no issues).
P.S. Corsair capacitors dried out after 3 years on my Corsair AX1500 PSU.

It's fine. Gigabyte earned a bad rep with an earlier model that quite literally, exploded under load, kind of making it a meme. Your model does not feature such excitement fortunately, but I think better bang for your buck exists. No danger though.

That's an unusual and equally unfortunate failure of a really solid unit :(
How did the RMA go?

I honestly thought you were joking about the gb suggestion!
Gigabyte has developed THE worst reputation in the PSU business over the last year. Most people literally wouldn't use a GB power supply if it was given to them. Heres a link to gigabytes self inflicted woes.

...How did the RMA go?...
I live in really fucked up country (especcialy now, guess what is it country - we live now in real "Idiocracy world", but our Camacho is old, bold and sadistic paranoid dwarf :( ), that not point in my profile, of course. And i sold PSU (with all papers) to guy, who going to immigrate to USA. Guess RMA is ok, but don't know. Sorry for bad English.

Corsair AX1500 PSU
interesting, I'm not doubting you but that series uses very high end caps found in most other high series from other brands/oems

There really aren't any psus made without PFC that have a.) been made in the last 20 years or b.) are of even a baseline level of acceptable quality.

Just sayin'. That kind of justifies the statement.

Fair enough, although most all my computers are running on power supplies without power factor correction and I'm not about to replace them.

@minstreless
Make sure you use corsair cables with the PSU you're getting.
DO NOT just plug in your current cabling into the Corsair. It can die out instantly

Do you happen to know what brand of capacitors (for reference)?

I tend to recap my old power supplies, re-oil the fan and expect them to then last a few decades more.

I have Antec hcg 850m the old version never had an issue with it since I bought it ex-display still in a plastic wrap for €120. This was more than 5 years old and still going in my system. I can't fault it in any way

Off the top of my head they should be Nippon 105c rated. Someone can look up the exact model.
