Nexus Technology unveiled its new SM-9000 silent wireless mouse that's just about good enough for gaming. The mouse uses a patented switch design that doesn't make any "clicking" noise, the company is busy showing people the advantages of getting rid of that annoying noise. The 1,600 dpi laser sensor makes the mouse good enough for gaming. Measuring 102 x 59 x 36 mm, the SM-9000 features an ergonomic right-oriented design, with three buttons and a vertical scroll wheel. Its wireless connection uses the 2.4 GHz band, and is capable of 39 2-way channels. It uses a tiny USB dongle, that can provide up to 10 meters range. The mouse runs on two AAA-size batteries, the auto-save mode helps conserve it. The SM-9000 is available in two variants, the all-black SM-9000B, and carbon fiber pattern SM-9000C. Nexus didn't give out pricing.

A video demonstration of the silent click switches follows.

This is the first time I've ever seen a company advertise something "just about good enough for" anything.

There will be tactile feedback, just no sound. So it's not like you're using feather-touch buttons.

Still there would be something missing. I think there's a reason non-clicky mice aren't around as much.

I think the reason is more that noiseless mechanical switches are expensive.

Well that may be true. And there has to be a market for this kind of mouse, since it would be stupid/very brave to relese something like that and just see what happens.

Is this for those who play video games at work?

No for the guy on Yahoo! Answers that asked for a program that mutes the clicking sound...

WTF :shadedshu watch the video properly and you will see that he aint even clicking the buttons of the nexus mouse (not like he was clicking the Logitech mouse) I call BS. :wtf:

The only reason you might want a silent mouse is if you were looking at certain images you don't wan't the missus to know about wink wink. :p

Hahaha, good one. Yahoo! Answers are a good laugh sometimes...

It should be better than the mouses that only clicks on the uptake. I used one once and I got so confused.

excelent, no more pretending to be asleep and hearing someone outside the door belt, i hear that mouse clicking

both these mouses look like a rip off of a Logitech mouse.

Secondly I didnt know EVERYONE had extreme cases of OCD which makes the thought or even SOUND of a small click from a mouse utterly unbearable. who the f**k do you think you are?! spec ops?? get the f**k outta here!

lol this is the next revolution yes ... sound less click....
now can they release an invisible mouse?

Sweet now we can spend more for a none clicky mouse which we will not know if it's working or not..

It would annoy the crap out of me no clicky sound. Never mind it being small as hell.

The clicking noise is essential!

Agreed, that noise doesn't bother me. I like my Razer's click.I consider clicking of the keys and mouse like an audible confirmation I hit the button hard enough!

I need the click.
Just like pens.
