Noctua displayed its new innovation in fan design, called Focused Flow. One of the first fans that use this design come in 120 mm size. Its design goal is to channel (or "focus") air flow towards the center of the fan, making it ideal for use with heatsinks and radiators. The biggest design change here is the stator guide vanes, that are a set of structures permanently fixed between the frame and the center. There are a number of innovations that improve air flow and reduce noise. Notable features are micro-structures on the inner-walls of the frame that dampens the whipping noise made by rotating fan-blades, and integrated vibration dampening material at the edges. The new Focused Flow 120 fan will be used by Noctua on all its upcoming CPU coolers.

Kudos to noctua they are investing in research and development

im sure it will be good, id like the see how it does against the silverstone ap

Noctua coolers are great, but Noctua please change the colour scheme of your fans. They look pathetic.

yep noctua performs pretty good in cooling solution.
for color i guess they wont change it easily coz its their trademark. even in 10 metres away when you see similar scheme you can say thats noctua

Noctua's color scheme is classy.

yeah! colorscheme is important! And imo it's cool!:toast:

"Focused Flow" does certainly sound a bit less crass than Silverstone's "Air Penetrator".:p

colour scheme "when shit hits the fan"

looking forward to seeing how well these perform on rads.

Deltas have been using the same concept even before

WOW

Is this Noctua's PWM controlled fan?

Nice rubber corners.

I may have to buy 1 and try it out.

This "Focused Flow" was like forever existing on server cooling fans.

Make a different color pls noctua

Calling this "innovation" is not only insulting to the engineers who came up with vane-axial fans decades ago but also a downright ignorant. Fixed vanes placed on the exhaust side of a fan are called vane axials and they have existed forever. There is no research and development here, just ripping off the likes of Delta, Rotron and Nidec Servo who have been building (better but not pc specific) fans with this tech forever. The hilarious irony is that this design looks poor and simplistic compared to the standard vane axial you would see on a high end military fan, probably wont work very well at all.

TPU please research whether something is actually innovation before you throw it up in a title like this. :shadedshu

That looks like a nice fan.:) I personally don't mind the color scheme they use, it's pretty subtle and better then as if they used a brighter color like green or red.

Ha ha, dude it's a press release.

Just a copy and paste job ( unfortunately)

PWM is over-rated.
Who needs PWM when Noctua fans runs at 1200~1300RPM max?

They aren't as quiet as they're made out to be, at least not the NF-P14s I had.

They aren't noisy at all that's the point.
The thing is what is consider noisy is sometime subjective, the pitch of the noise is also a big factor.

I'd rather have a PWM fan any day of the week over one that wasn't. Quite on the desktop and all out when I can't hear it gaming. :rockout:
As long as the fan doesn't click, PWM is useless.
It is funny that people thinks that non-PWM fans can't be controlled.
All PWM adds for the most case is extra cost for hardly any benefit.

Someone should just make a screwable stator guide vanes like thing that is attachable to any kind of fan

I can't wait till they find a way to make case fans like the new dyson bladeless fans.

You realize Dyson just hides the fans, right?
