Look around. Don't just settle into fans, especially expensive ones. There's been loads of fan round ups from different sites and Noctua usually ends up in the middle, and complete losers on price/performance.

Example http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/120mm-fan-roundup-4_24.html#sect0

They only lose on price/performance in the short term. I'm aware of no other fan boasting a 6 year warranty and in my experience it is extremely rare for a high performance fan to last that long. Longest I've ever had another high performance fan last before starting to die is about 3 years.

Now maybe I've just been unlucky, but that 6 year warranty is worth a pretty big price premium to me. I bought my SP120s half as an experiment to see if they can last 5+ years.

Artic Cooling fans have a 6y warranty, and most ball bearing fans will run many years if treated right and looked after.

They will probably greatly increase sales by offering black fans. Next of course is to offer them in red, blue, green, yellow, etc. so they can supply every wish in the world. ;)

hmmm. Lets see

Corsair SP120 (Run fan controller at same RPM as the Noctua and itll be just as quiet but have more static pressure)

San Ace H1011 120x38

Panaflo 120x38

There are some others but im drawing a blank.

There are fans out there that are just as quiet even at higher RPM, that will provide better static pressure for radiators and heat sinks. I have a feeling you have no tried to many fans. I have tested so many fans, its stupid, and ive stopped at the Corsair ones.

I do like Noctua fan construction, but performance has me scratching my head.

Couldn't agree more :respect:
