Noctua Shows Off New A-series 200 mm Fan

Noctua's fabled 200 mm A-series fan is closer to market availability, with the company greatly refining its design. In its latest prototype, the fan features a new fiberglass impeller. Fiberglass is chosen over ABS plastic as it is 26% lighter. A 200 mm ABS plastic impeller would need greater torque on the motor to get going at acceptable speeds. The motor features a larger 4 mm-dia chrome-steel axis (33% more bearing surface), and SSO2 ball bearing. Other features common along Noctua fan prototypes, such as acoustic optimization along the frame, a stepped inlet design, and vibration dampening pads are carried over.

very sexy, but while I praise companies going off the usual default colourschemes I do feel it would be in their own best interest if they made some in more conventional colours, not for me, but others.

I might not mind the color scheme so much for this one because 200mm fans, at least for me, are pretty much only going to be used for front intakes and well hidden since I run radiators on exhaust. That said I do prefer their cheaper grey color scheme fans.

Noctua fans might look ugly, but they sure work well. My NH-D14 is something like 5 years old and the fans are as whisper quiet and smooth as the day I bought it. I can't recommend their products highly enough and they're well worth the price premium.

I hope they actually release it this year because I'll immediately take two of them to replace my dual 200mm BitFenix Spectre Pro. The Spectre Pro fans still make more noise than I'd like. I have never had to worry about noise from my Noctua fans, either my NF-F12 or NF-P12. They are quiet, move a lot of air at lower RPM than the Corsair SP120 fans they replaced on my radiators, and they look badass if you know what to look for.

I swear by them now.
