nVidia 320.18 drivers killing GPUs?

Using the 320.11 drivers with modified inf and working great here.

I cant play LoL with out this driver crashing and its crashed a few times at desktop. But the beta drivers seem to work just fine.

I had my first crash last night. EVGA GTX460SC 1GB. Rolled driver back to 314.22.

Up until now driver 320.18 seemed stable, have been using since release. When it crashed, screen went black and system seemed to stop like a power outage /brownout. Fans stopped and the whole system appeared to momentarily shut off. I have a UPS so It was strange the way it occurred.
I got a message that the driver failed and has recovered. The desktop was not immediately recoverable and I had to use task manager to shut down IE and the web page I was viewing (looking at new fly fishing gear @ http://www.tridentflyfishing.com/.) After that I could access things normally...(unsure)

Did a custom, clean, reinstall of 314.22 and had to reboot.
I have also been using EVGA Precision 4.2.0.2143 with a heavy fan curve, held mostly under 50c.
29c-30c at idle. I've used every version of Precision since this card was new.

First issues with my 780 and 320.18. Continuous artifacts. Only game so far ive seen it. All the others. Crysis 3 and Battlefield 3 have run solid.

Was gettin some driver stops on multimonitor.

I did a clean install with nvidia software to 314.20

hmm super, not gonna risk it, time to rollback

How did you modify the inf?

Nevermind, going to try the 320.11 that comes with the 780s. Screw this 320.18 BS.

Gonna install 320.49 right now, wish me luck :)

Final or beta???

Nvidia experience says BETA.

On a side note I kinda miss seeing your Oblivion avatar, that made me laugh every time. Funny times in that game :toast:

One wonders how nvidia could have screwed up so badly with 320.18, but at least they're acknowledging the problems and putting them right.

Probably cause I switched to nvidia

Ha! Sadly I don't have Oblivion installed anymore, maybe a folder saved somewhere but I don't remember.

Because at any moment in time, anyone can make a mistake.

To be fair I'm not that forgiving towards a company that charges a premium for everything.

They should not roll out defective WHQLs, especially with the position they cover in the market.
