In addition to the mid-range GeForce GTX 750 series based on the "Maxwell" GPU architecture, NVIDIA rather surreptitiously launched the GeForce GTX TITAN Black, its new flagship graphics card, replacing the original GTX TITAN. Based on the 28 nm "GK110" silicon, the card maxes out its feature-set, offering its full complement of 2,880 CUDA cores, 240 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. The GTX 780 Ti already manages most of that, but the GTX TITAN Black features double its standard memory amount - 6 GB, and features full double-precision floating-point GPGPU performance. It replaces the original GTX TITAN from its $999 price-point.

Titans cost 1700$ now a days.

Titans are probably out of stock, only gougers are left. EVGA has Titan Black in stock for $999.

I'm sorry to hear that Chaitanya. Here in Germany you can get one for ~850€, which is about the same it costed 6 month ago (http://geizhals.de/?phist=907804).
The Titan Blacks are listed for about 100€ more apiece, but I guess as soon as they are available, the price will drop to that of the normal Titans and the normal Titans will probably vanish from the market.

On Amazon US Titans are currently listed for 1700$. here is the link:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...X+titan&rh=n:284822,k:GTX+titan&tag=tec06d-20

Luckily in India neither Titan nor the R9-290(both non-X and X) haven't increased in price. Looks like only USA is feeling crunch of these high-end video cards.

Expensive piece of crap. It's better to say it's not here anything other than added GTX 780i 3 GB of RAM.
the frequency is not decent and many models for less money overcome the preformance. Not to mention the outputs are captured 2 slot, and outdated! R9-290x overcome TITAN-Black, Edition in many ways., And operates DirectX11.2 which means that also performs a number of applications such as DirectX11.1 not ! AMD is cheaper 50% or more.
The test results speak for themselves. thanks for the link.

You clearly don't know what the Titan is actually for, or what differentiates it from normal Geforce gaming cards.

I keep hearing that and honestly I have mix feelings about it:
For games is good, but not that good especially for that price.
For professional apps is good, but not that good, actually way worst than a dedicated professional GPU.
My guess is that this card is for 3D Design geeks who want to use it both for work and fun.

Its a do everything professional card IMO.

The card is only for the select view people out there. Most people get mad about the price or anything about the card because they can't afford it.
