NVIDIA Announces the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series Graphics Cards

You probably need to invest in time machine
That's exactly the attitude Ngreedia wants you to have. Don't expect good value for your money. The more you spend, the more leather jackets Jensen can buy.

GTX 1080 - May 2016
RTX 2080 - Sep 2018
RTX 3080 - Sep 2020
RTX 4080 - Nov 2022

I will wait for the 50 series cards at the end of the year.

You, me and the rest of the world. Still, if it's still priced through the roof, I'm going IGP-only.

It's extraordinary that the existing 4080 and 4070Ti have been abandoned. With the Super versions Nvidia are admitting the old cards had issues. Pricing in my view.

There was simply no room in the product stack for all these SKUs.
Nvidia routinely launches new products with more shaders enabled as manufacturing matures and defect rates go down. They're not always called "Super", but there really isn't anything specific to Ada.

What you say about manufacturing maturity is correct. However, that's not applicable here. Both new 4080 and 4070 products are a new design, albeit similar to their predecessors. Nvidia has made clear they are to replace the existing products and are ceasing production of the 4070Ti and 4080. And they would do that... ?

Man only if this RT and PT and all these new craps weren't creating new itches in my body I was in the IGP boat a long time ago :(

Yeah, I'm kinda looking forward to try these, too, especially since I'm a bit of a computer gfx buff. But since I don't really have time to play anymore (and I've been sitting on the side for so long), I think I can let that go.

So 16 gig nvidia down from $1200 to $800.

Rest of the announcement doesnt mean anything,

Been playing FF15 today maxed out, 4k rendering, on my 3080, older game in house engine, the game looks glorious, better than newer games like cyberpunk and uses a fraction of the GPU power, the only part of my GPU its stressing is the VRAM capacity (using 4k texture pack) of which its utilising a little over 9 gigs of it.

Crazy how unoptimised software pushes out billions of hardware sales.
