yeah I got that now. It's fishy, and stinks of an artificial lock. I know for a fact the driver handles the BAR declarations.

Device and Host negotiate the set of features the device is capable of at initialization, why tell the Host you're okay to do something that your drivers won't permit yet and IHV engineers weren't ready to deploy.

I look forward to be it being pushed out in a crippled form that helps less than it was meant to

You mean the way AMD did it? all or nothing?

Rebar lol. Fun term. Sure they can have rebar but they don't got SAM without the right stars aligning and my performance gains were more like losses.

Nvidia isn't doing SAM.

Nvidia is doing "Game Ready" Resizable Bar.

But then nvidia are the ones who get the bad PR over it, just like AMD getting bad PR over the backdated CPU support with all their chipsets
BIOS flashback was the best solution to that problem at least, but video cards arent so easy to BIOS flash

hell look at how we even have forum sections dedicated to BIOS flashing, and how it harms more often than it helps
Hell yea, it's crazy how many vbios flash fails happen every darn week!

And we all have to wait on Nvidia to release these bios updates to enable SAM... it's like a double edged sword.
Sadly, the bios bricking is happening right now. The nvidia bios for FE cards is error proof but those from the AIB's are proving harmful...
