Funny thing is, i would have had my 5870 for 6 months by the time Fermi launches. I'm glad i didn't wait 6 months for the yet to be confirmed 20% performance increase.

I still think nV would be boasting/leaking more benches if they had the so called killer card which will cost a killer price. nV, imo, is very arrogant chip maker. :slap:

Only time will tell.

Indeed, we all know, including nvidia, that 20% in games will not cut it for a 6 month delayed card. Especially since it'll cost a bomb, and the hd5870 can OC like a mother. Then of course there's that constant ominous feeling that AMD are just sitting there waiting to release a hd5890, but are just making sure it will definitely own fermi. AMD are aiming to stay the top dog for performance most of this year.

Would nVidia know about what AMD got for fermi , if they really got something waiting...?

I mean both chips are manufacture in the same place (same shop) so nVidia most know what AMD got & AMD what nVidia got ...

Well, that could also be why they're staying quiet, if AMD have something good and nvidia know, the more they make a fuss with the gtx380, the worse it'll be for them if AMD stomps them.

Either way, nvidia are being too quiet.

Also, we may yet see 9k posts for fermi if nvidia don't release it soon. We'll almost certainly see 3k before march though, especially if nvidia start releasing information. The tone of the discussion is still very much Dependant on what information comes out. They still need to show that their card is better in environments without or low tessellation, because if it's not, i think they will struggle.

they are probably built in different areas per-se, otherwise that would be violation of trade secrets etc.

Not sure of that , they may use half of the "shop" for AMD & the other half for nVidia...?

With a cheap cardboard wall in between with holes to see true what is going on in the other side of the "wall" ...

Unless there is 2 TSMC foundry shops in different place or town...?

OK everybody, if Fermi news is a bit thin on the ground, how about we help nvidia out and relive some of their glory days of the past?! :laugh:

How about this review of the Gainward Ultra/750 Golden Sample GeForce4 Ti4600 from way back in 2002 for example? It's actually got two DVI ports on it, which was quite a feature then. Also, look at the tiny cooler they could get away with on high end cards in those days! I'm sure it was really whiny and annoying. No power socket needed, either.

Amazingly, Scan found some old stock somewhere, dusted it off and are now flogging it at a mere 35 quid! lol. This thing is AGP and I actually have a decent P4 computer to plug it into. I just can't decide whether I should buy it for its retro novelty value or not. Waddya think? Do you think I'd make a profit on eBay, perhaps??
