Flooding? There is now 6 variants of 8800 cards, that has to be a record. I consider it flooding, especially when there is another 2 versions on the way.

Ket - Yeah the review may be bull, the CD and paper sure doesn't help the situation. But still, It's that guys reputation on the line if it does turn out to be a crock.



Yep, it's the best marketing scheme I've seen in a long time. nVidia knows that there are tech junkies who just have to have the latest, the people who pursue even a 50 point increase in their 3Dmark score.

I say let them do it, flood the market and make everyone rush to buy these. It pushes the prices of the older yet still exceedingly capable 8800 cards down whilst it also raises nVidias revenue for them to release the next gen of cards. Which means that when the next worthwhile cards do come out, they will be worth buying hopefully. That is of course given that nVidia actually are doing this scheme to get more revenue for their R&D team and not just for that platinum plated toilet the boss wants.

I see what you mean- I was referring more to the recent launches of the 8800gt/hd3870 cards and their total lack of availability.

The 8800gtx has surely been king for a long time now. The only top card for the last year, until the lacklustre hd2900 launch.

I don't really consider levels of stock as flooding. I consider the amount of options that are pushed into your face to be flooding because it makes your brain work overtime trying to figure out what is best. It's like the 44,000 different paint options on the new Rolls Royce Drophead... Why do they need to overkill that much? I could imagine talking to a sales person about it, and when you say you want it in black they follow by asking "Which black do you prefer, sir? We have 4729 shades of that colour."

[I.R.A]_FBi - ATi's reason for what? As far as I can tell, ATi's only reasons of existence since the X1950 is to try and catch up and to provide a cheaper alternative.

no kidding, the Cpu-Z shows some weird fsb numbers - and isn't the Atitool mem clock reading off as well?

Clearly they are using very very old software. ATItool version is .25 beta 14! And the CPU-Z version is old enough to still be using the old logo, my guess it is it is a version that came out long before the quads were even released. It looks like these guys need to updated their software a little and get their act together.

I take it your link is to the new 8800gts 128sp.. ? theses g92 cards I believe are only comparable/better in lower resolution than 1680x1050, at this res and above it lacks ram for a game like crysis maxed.

I just got a 8800gts 112sp g80 card when I get my system up and running I'll see what it scores in Crysis @ 1680x1050.
