...they need to add tri-SLi to the...

A certain Palit 9800GT (overclocked, with a dual-heatpipe HSF) has tri-SLi support, and HybridPower. It's what's in my rig at the moment.

You people are obbsessed with Palit , i see a lot of talk of Palit on this forum ( strange ) , in my country and opinion Palit is synonymous with cheap quality and low price.
A few people bought some palit cards on romanian forums and they always have low overclocks compared to other manufacturers.
Of course there are exceptions like sonic editions , but still most of their cards are of the lowest quality despite having gainward , galaxy and who knows what brands under their belt , started as a low price company and still is targeting the same people who want a bargain on that 8800GT but components used are questionable.

i think most people on this forum have already had a GTS240 lol, still, I don't know what to say, it seem that the only 2 new cards in this new GXX series are the high end ones, and thats messed up.

still, im starting not to care anymore cause i just traded my GTX's for 4870's

but if they do use cheaper components and less phases then theres no way they will overclock better than the older cards, but what i really don't get is why would nvidia keep making the 112sp GT's when the 4830's are in that price range and a good bit faster right now, and they all overclock balls to the wall.

It makes sense for nvidia to re-use the 8800GT's because they already have half the shaders of a gtx280 and it might be cheaper for them just to reuse the design idk

Ok , i would buy the RECESSION excuse if the 8800GT was only once rebranded , BUT IS THE SECOND TIME AND THE FIRST TIME WITH THE 9800GT THERE WAS NO RECESSION.
It has little to do with the economy problems , the business plan is made far into the future , it's not like they plan a new generation today and in 3-4 months they release it , they do it in 1-2 years.
Well we could say the economy problems put their plans on hold for the new generation but let's see what the GT300 will bring , hope it's not a die shrink of GT285 , overcloked and sligthly changed to be compatible with dx11.
And about the 8800 ultra high end , it was ultra high end but it's a few years old , about 3 years ago if i'm not wrong , isn't this a bit much ? we were used to see a cheap mainstream card beat the crap out of a 1-2 years old top card , not anymore.

The US has been in a recession for 4 years. Since long before the G92. You just remember it being mentioned in the media relatively recently.

I don't believe in the "massive economic crisis". I believe the media is inflating it to gain ratings, which makes people eventually believe that there IS a huge crisis, which makes people tighten thier belts, pull money out of the banks because they're afraid the banks are going to fail, and tuck it away somewhere. Without money in the banks and without people buying goods, the economy will THEN cripple, which is why there IS a crisis today. I guess I just contradicted myself there. I suppose I should say that I belive there IS a crisis today, but there wasn't really too much of a problem before the media rammed it down our throats and made things a lot worse.

taking bets now on G92GT's next name...

will it be .... GTS 320 ... GT 320... or the nice and easy GT 340, thats be lol.

and jsut the the chain of evolution....

8800GT -> 9800GT -> GTS 240 -> GT 340

that would be very lol, and its good to know ive had a GTS240 since the release late 07!

really they should have called it a GT240 because the card has always been something GT

man even since back in the day when they FIRST landed Ive been trying to call them G92GT as much as possible, as it is the DEFINITIVE name for this chip.

because when the first landed there was then already 2 series of 8800GTS, which just made it easier to write either G80GTS or G92GTS....

its all very confusing, but thru the muck and the tears i think calling it GTS240 alongside the GTS250 and GTX series cards makes sense.

even someone who has no idea can conclude that a GTS is probably worse than a GTX, and that GTS 240 is lower than GTS 250.

much better than the king of the hill being a GTX295, and some newb going, "oh no my 9800GTX+ must be better, the number is bigger"

FDIC insured means you are covered for up to $100,000 per account in the FDIC banks, and you aren't affected if they fail. Got $1,000,000 liquid and not tied up in assets for some reason? You just spread it throughout 10 banks and so on. Its not people pulling money out of banks. Its banks afraid to lend to people when they could possibly not have a job in a month etc.

The market is partially speculation, thats the only thing the media effects when they whine of economic woes.

BTW This thread isn't about "economic crisis". Yes, people are losing their jobs lately on a massive scale so if you feel we are in a recession or not it doesn't matter. Its a fact.

People saving money more is actually a solution to the current economic situation. Banks have less to lend because a large portion of the US is ok with taking on massive amounts of debt and plenty just declare bankruptcy.
