An upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 reference-design graphics card popped up in Hong Kong's Capital Market. The pictures reveal a reference design cooler that features a design that's slightly different/simpler from the GTX 1080/1070 reference cooler, and features NVIDIA company branding on its PCB, although the PCB code isn't printed in its usual location. The PCB itself appears to be shorter than the cooler, much in the same way as GTX 670, GTX 960 reference, and the RX 480 reference. There are no specifications to chew on, nor any information on what this card could be priced at.

Poll was created for a reason. The answer is YES

And probably rip 480 soon as well. When you're more efficient you will win

Looking at how nvidia has jacked up prices for GTX 10XX series so far, expecting these cards to cost around 250$.

2Gb vram has been mentioned, although we will have to wait and see.

I can tell you from Hong Kong, the RX480 is selling for $300 over at Capital.
So still RIP RX 480.

Rip RX480? Some people beg Nvidia to take their money. And then we wonder why Nvidia is coming out with overpriced refer... sorry.... overpriced Founders Edition cards.

It is not like there is competition to the GTX 1070 or 1080 any time soon anyways.
Vega is at least 4 months off, so RIP RX 480 or not doesn't change the fact about the Founders Cards.

+100 internets, cookie sent in post.

Sounds like bull to me, its pretty much a min now to have least 4gb even on lower end cards. depending on memory path the card has could be 6gb.

It would be so cruel if Nvidia (yet again) rained on AMD's parade and release this around the same time as RX480. Though the RX480 should go on display tomorrow, so that's probably not going to happen.

If this card releases, it will most likely be just a little faster than a 970.

nVidia, since you are not scared to show the world how shallow you are; start the MSRP at $1 000 000, I am sure you will still get a buyer, you can name it "Gold/Platinum Gaming Edition" The new GTX1000 series lineup from nVidia, the fastest single graphic cards ever created to date." "Pre-Order now and get a FREE GAME."

least it would be a new game, unlike AMD that gives you a choice of picking from games that are 2-3 year's old.

yeah...no sorry

That would put it on par with the RX480, hopefully the pricing will be competitive.

So this is what co-founder of JagatReview have been talking about. He cryptically said that there's another GTX 10 series positioned as NVIDIA cheapest VR solution and will come to their lab for review next week.

and you had to guess it was this? with have had GTX x60 cards for quite a few generations now...

Don't see this besting the RX 480. The RX 480 will kick it's ass all over DX12 town and they'll probably be close in DX11. All depends on pricing and thermals for what the reviewers prefer. Unfortunately for AMD (and as so many predicted late last year) DX12 titles are still very thin on the ground and will be for a while.

People writing off the RX 480 should leave the thread now for being morons.

I wouldn't expect 1060 coming out too soon. Nvidia does have plenty of 970, 980 and 980Tis in the market to keep people from buying RX480 cards. We probably know which card is which generation, but most people don't and people who have a very minimal knowledge of graphics cards, or checked Steam database lately, probably will go for a GTX 970 at the same price with an RX480, with 970 looking like a safe bet("I hear about this card a lot and it is in the top spot in Steam database, no reason to start asking at forums, or googling for hours".

Also, Nvidia wouldn't want to come out with a $250 card just yet. Except if they acknowledge that they have a serious problem with GTX 1070/GTX 1080 availability and they feel the need to flood the market with a cheaper card at higher volumes. GP106 and GDDR5 could help in that.

But even if Nvidia does come with a $250 card and even if they threaten RX480, can they really pose any kind of threat to RX470 with it's rumored $149 price tag? Probably not.

In the end, this is getting interesting.

RIP Rx 480 fo sho, a card which isn't even out of NDA. :shadedshu:

The bad thing is that the 480 hype has been absolutely stupid, but this time AMD didn't do it, it's the internet. I fear many people will be dissapointed in it and just default back to Nvidia. OTOH it would require a biblical miracle for that not to happen. I swear Nvidia could release a driver that killed motherboards and fried GPUs and blame Microsoft and people would still trust them.

I am honestly just being patient with my upgrade urge since my GTX 680 is still doing well despite a fair length of use.

If the RX 480 didn't perform as well as I expected from the user benchmarks, I might stay with Nvidia. The GTX 1060 ought to be better than 960 at least, if not slightly better than 970.

Either way though, if I choose to upgrade I am sure I will get a huge performance boost considering what card I am using now. xP
