NVIDIA today launched the third and final high-end GPU in its GeForce RTX 40-series SUPER refresh. The new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is being launched at an attractive $999 price, compared to the $1,199 that the RTX 4080 originally launched at. Besides this huge 20% cut in pricing, there's also more performance on offer, as the company chose to max out the 5 nm AD103 silicon that it's based on. If you recall, the RTX 4080 has 76 out of 80 streaming multiprocessors of the AD103 enabled, and its memory runs at an odd 22.4 Gbps speed. The RTX 4080 SUPER gets all 80 SM, and a well rounded 23 Gbps memory speed.

With 80 SM on tap, you get 10,240 CUDA cores, 320 Tensor cores, 80 RT cores, 320 TMUs, and 112 ROPs. The memory size is unchanged at 16 GB, across the 256-bit wide memory interface of the AD103; as is the total graphics power (TGP), at 320 W. All cards will include an NVIDIA-designed adapter that converts three 8-pin PCIe power connectors into a 12VHPWR that's capable of delivering 450 W of power. The target audience for this card is the same as that of the RTX 4080—maxed out 4K Ultra HD gaming with ray tracing. At $999, the RTX 4080 SUPER allows NVIDIA to better compete with the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX that's sometimes spotted for prices as low as $900. Deep discounts omg.

You'd almost buy one. :kookoo: After all, what is a mere 1k for a not even enthusiast graphics card, halfway down a generational cycle.

as i said its the exact same card. but nvidia would rather release the same card with a nuew suffix instead of simp,y lower the price on the 4080 because they can put in the marketing for a new product. unbelievable.

So nvidia can stop producing 4080's non-supers now....Since obviously no one in their right mind would buy those anymore now.....

Not many did over here, seeing the lack of reviews and also prices. Lots of shops don't even bother to stock it lol

Good to see there is some semblance of sanity among consumers.

Given the poor reviews no wonder review embargo was pushed to launch day instead of day prior.

4080 super is a nothingburger we had 4080 from palit for 1099€ for very long. cheapest 4080s is 1099. nothing happened at all.

it was actually because the cards arrived very late a friend of mine who is a reviewer got his card on saturday here in europe.

1300-1700 here before tax.. good thing I don’t enjoy games that much lol..

And obviously, no one in their right mind would buy this card either, at least not at that price....

Make it $699, then maybe, otherwise...a major m.E.h... :)

Why not just cut the 4080 pricing as this update is beyond a joke. Should have moved to AD102 on 320bit bus with 20GB for worthwhile upgrade and still at $999.

The new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is being launched at an attractive $999 price
Yeah about as attractive as a french revolution if food prices acted like that. If the GTX 1080ti were inflation adjusted it would cost under $900 despite inflation of 27% total since 2016. If America decided not attempting to cannibalize its economy it would have likely cost under $800 not to mention still having one of the largest performance boosts in history that makes this card in 2024 STILL usable. Lets not even mention the fact that the 1080ti has a 352 bit bus but lets not get into the rabbit hole why that card was possibly one of the best releases of all time.

Though lets see what happens since intel ARC is coming out with battlemage this year (supposedly)... uncertain how that will do but if it even competes with the 4070 SUPER its going to be a good option with how intel has not given up on ARC and if it competes with the 4080 SUPER... that will be a unwelcome surprise to NVIDIA since intel GPU pricing has been decent and while intel GPU software leaves a lot to desire... but they have been moving at light-speed with updates almost being monthly.

Not to mention AMD is going to come out with the 8000 series of GPUs this year and with how good the 7000 series was despite its troubles if the top line 8000 series beats the SUPER at a cheaper price NVIDIA will be in trouble since AMD has focused on rasterization which is actually useful for gaming compared to ray tracing.
