NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition

Here's some fun with numbers. The 5090 is four times faster than the B580 for eight times the MSRP. I feel like Nvidia customers are paying half of the price for hardware and half of the price for software.
it's a halo product, you should not compare it (PerfromanceTo$) to other cards...

But 5080 and under might be pretty ugly ^^"

Im buying but only because I have no GPU at the moment. Hard not to feel like I have to subject myself to robbery to buy something nowadays.

Better performance, but at what (power draw and thermal) cost? It's not even practical. The idle, video playback, multi-monitor, and 60Hz numbers look like an AMD product, not the nVidia one. Massively disappointed. Hopefully, other cards from the 5000 series will have improved efficiency compared to the previous generation, but looking at the 5090 it's very questionable.

Will a brand name 1200watt psu like seasonic, Enermax, Corsair etc be enough to power this beast?

I have a 1000 W Seasonic and had no problems at all

NVIDIA: 566.14 WHQL
Why isn't Nvidia releasing new drivers to reviewers?

dear lord that power consumption, insane.

Also I wouldn't be me if I hadn't done that.

One will need to buy approximately 170 thousand RTX 5090s, or invest at least $340 million USD + VAT in order to get one football field worth of RTX 5090s.

Now that RTX 5090 has been measured in football fields we can go back to actual gaming.

I mean you can buy literally anything else

Performance increased linearly proportional to power draw, compared to a 4090. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is usually called stagnation and basically is just brute forcing performance by throwing more power at the problem, and covering it with software gimmicks.

Oof, the noise levels.

Not unexpected and not good either.

They should have gone with the 4-slot brick.

Yes this is just the 4090 Ti especially if Nvidia brings DLSS4 to the 4000 series.

Though the performance is there I am sure this will not sell well in areas where Power is expensive. 600 Watts is a serious amount of wattage to consume in Gaming alone.

Would be interesting to know memory temperature during LLM inference, since it's an extremely memory intensive workload, unlike most games.

Performance increase is okay. 30-35 %..but it is not Superb either.

You may gain 30 %. But you also pay 400 usd more mrsp and Hefty increase in power consumption and its not like electricity has become cheaper either. So i don't feel its worth replacing my rtx 4090 with rtx 5090.

4090 stays with me. I'll wait for 6000 series or what they might call it. Se you in around 2.5 years

It will sell like hot cakes because you really need to be THAT guy to be unable to underwatt it. Just limit the clocks and voilá, it only consumes as much as 300 W or even less.

And yeah, 99% potential buyers don't care, they get paid long dollar for its calculating power anyway.

4090 will solidly keep a nice position. 5080 will NOT improve much over the 4080(S) without MFG, so it won't get anywhere near the 4090. It won't be able to keep its inflated prices for new cards, though, if not for the scalped/scarce 5090's.

Hope we see the DLSS/MFG/Latency review at soonest, this is what these cards are hard sold on after all. Otherwise it's extremely bad value.

Damn, I want to get a RTX5080, but I think I am going to be shafted to the extreme when it comes to price/performance.

This would be a fun card to undervolt
That was my thoughts exactly. Just whit the undervolt i made on my rtx 4090. I can easy lower consumption by 100 to 150 watt.

With the following settings. Voltage to 0,925 mv and gpu clock locked to 2600 MHz. Stock is 1.05 mv and 2775 MHz.

A decent saving with out losing a much performance

Well since the performance jump of 5080 seems that will be low I hope it will not fly off the shelves in 5 secs.
Jump from 7900XTX in raster won't be high, but RT should be good.

Liquid metal? Interesting that manufacturers have started using that from the factory.

the biggest achievement is the reduced size albit the bigger power consumption.
NV place themself as the (also) best cooing maker for GPU.
All 3rd party player need to reflect on that...
