NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition

Reading it now.

Page 2

"based on its training date, temporal frames" I think should be "training data"

Page 5 still has "FIXME" C

"Slang" sounds like a return to VLIW where procedures get broken down into smaller instructions that are easier to handle and process.....

The lighting "radiance cache" was expected, use a few Rays then use a formula to infer the rest with good enough results and with training up against fully RT scenes you can get the formula just right, and I bet a lot of this can be pre-baked.

Multi-frame generation/reflex2 I am going to take a stab in the dark that its a form of MSAA or the like and then uses vector motion to move the viewport on the existing rendered information and has learned enough to only update the part of the next frame that has activity.

2X as fast as the 7900XTX for a bit more than 2X the price and around the same energy efficiency. Its a marvel of engineering with DLSS4 for sure. Once it reaches its MRSP it will be a great card to buy. I don't think there will be more than 5% of cards purchased for MRSP for the next two years. If they were available at release for MRSP I would buy one. But I bet we will see 3K or more for them for the next 6 months at least.

The performance is better than I thought, but the power consumption is scary 600w+

Is it just me, or does DLSS 4 with transformers seem like the secret sauce that makes Blackwell run way better than ADA ? Jensen could leverage this to significantly widen the performance gap between generations. Leather jacket manipulating everything from the shadows. :pimp:

@W1zzard what do you think is the reason for the odd results in Space Marine 2 and Elden Ring? Is the 5090 stepping off the gas hard when hitting an engine limitation?

Im buying but only because I have no GPU at the moment. Hard not to feel like I have to subject myself to robbery to buy something nowadays.
You can buy a card from the Geforce 40 series, you can bet there will be price drops very soon.

Most curious about this is that RT performance drop is sometimes a couple of % worse gen on gen, how bizarre for the GPU vendor who makes the most fuss about this :

Old games should be removed from Average FPS list, max 4year old. Witcher 3 10year old with very outdated graphic demand
Those are there to have the continuity with older benchmarks, that is fine!

I hate what that snake leather jacket man turned us into, we have to choose between models that won't screw us the most.
You could not buy nvidia? If you don't need CUDA and only care about raster there is no real reason to buy nvidia. Your paying a price premium for GPU compute you won't really use and also early adopting into raytracing, AI rendering, and more that while they "work" are not ready for common consumption. Really nvidia's extra feature set for gaming won't matter until gaming consoles (probably running AMD as nvidia burned those bridges badly) can pull it off. At which point AMD will run it just fine.

Unless they have a 2nd connector, no.
I somehow can imagine Galax/KFA2 going this route with their HOF line. (They did it already with the 4090, no?)

Yeap, they did and they are going too. But good luck finding one, and the price...4k? More?

Oh no, I'm not in the market for a new GPU for at least 3 more years (not after I just put my current card under water). Doesn't stop me from admiring the tech and the audacity, though.

I mean yeah it’s an impressive gpu but the price unimpressive …. I will tank it with my 3090 for another 2 years for 60 series or whatever amd offering they have then

but folks on 10 series should upgrade and 20 series can consider … 30 series folks I think can skip this 50 series

Yeah there is no way that the 5070 is par with 4090 that's for sure.

Efficiency is not power draw. It can be a 5000kw card and still be efficient. You have to divide performance with the power draw to get to efficiency.
yess like what i've said, nice efficiency for 600 watt card..

Nice ? What's "nice", the numbers don't lie the efficiency is the same or worse vs 4090, what's nice about that lol.

Great! RTX 5090 double fast as a RX 7900 XTX.

But wanna see 8K resolution tests, how is good a 32 VRAM, the game such Rachet and Clank Rift Apart, max settings + RT, easy can over 24 VRAM.

The New "Nvidia Flagsh*t" because no competitors whatsoever...25% more performance for 2300 euro in Europe...Yeeeeesss ! +150W TBP for 25% vs 4090 Yeeeesss ! You need a PSU only for the GPU,another for the rest of the system...Yeeees ! All my friends with 4000 series GPU confirmed they will not switch to this bollocks generation for measly 10-20% generational leap :) And I was hoping the RTX 5070 will be my saviour "upgrade" from the RX 6800 OC 16GB...I don't think so in rasterized performance :) So RTX 6000 Series when? Ahem !

It's great to hear that the new DLSS4 transformer model is an improvement over DLSS3, because I'm also allergic to the DLSS1/2/3 smearing, ghosting, and blurriness.

I'm also trying to drive a 4K120 OLED TV and don't really have the physical space or cooling available for a big, power-hungry card. Hopefully the 5070 can be scaled back to 200W with a little tinkering in Afterburner, and DLSS4 can pick up the rest...

What I missing from the review is screenshot/comparison between the modes actual quality.
