If those numbers are accurate, it seems like DLSS upscaling will be much more performant on Blackwell. And it's the new transformer model.

I'm actually looking forward to DLSS comparisons between similar 40 and 50 series cards.

and the new transformer should be available to 40 series too

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
Something doesn't add up here. TPU found the 4090 to generate 40 fps at 4K with RT enabled in CP77. Now the 5090 can only do 30 fps. Hmm....
The RT-enabled review of the 4090 at 40fps isn't path tracing, because that feature wasn't added to the game for over a year after the 4090 launch reviews.

You want this page for the full path-tracing results, and scroll down past the first set of results for hybrid RT which is the standard raster engine with RT used for reflections, shadows, and GI only

4090 gets 19.5fps at 4K in full path-tracing, so "struggling to hit 30fps" for the 5090 in the same scenario is expected. I don't know what that means, exactly - perhaps 25-28fps average with the occasional moment where it hits 30fps, or maybe it means it can't even hit 30fps at all. If the 5090 is 30-40% more powerful than the 4090 in terms of raw performance, I would expect a ~26fps average to the 4090's 19.5fps.

So basically everything feels like varying levels of Vsynced latency, with the best option giving you notably lower graphical quality (DLSS performance no FG). Even 28ms is pretty bad though, considering you can get/should get far more with that kind of FPS at just native, no frills quality.

I'll pass, if I want this slow ass shit I can buy a console.

How do you want to get to 90 FPS at native-no-frills quality, though? Isn't that the whole point of this?

Upscaling doesn't add latency over native rendering, unless you're comparing 4K DLSS Perf to 1080p native, then obviously the latter is faster, but looks much worse.

How many generations will it take to get from 30 to 90 FPS with path tracing?

And you can't compare system latency between games. It all depends on the rendering pipeline in each title. Some games might get 20 ms at 90 FPS, and others can get 40 ms. But if you find 28 ms to be slow, then I do not envy you. This is why I keep playing at 60 Hz with Vsync without any issues. Once you get used to the good stuff, it's hard to go back.

You disable PT. Simple. The hit is just too high, and MFG won't change that

NV's worse release ever. But I guess it's not even a new GPU, just a minor refresh of the old one with mor cores, better memory, and FP4/INT4 enabled for consumer cards. Oh, and plenty of bs A.I. gimmicks that would work fine on the 40x0 series, but not allowed to, thrown in for the kids.

I don't have any games with RT.

I'd just rather have the transistors for additional horsepower, or cut them out of the die altogether slash the price and call it a non-RT, non-AI card.

I get you, but I feel that RT is the way forward, it just comes at too much of a performance cost right now. NV really don't seem like they want to increase RT performance. I think this gen has only increased RT perf by 30%, nowhere near enough to make games playable on anything but the top SKU at 60FPS without upscaling trickery.
