Erm... no. You can disagree with his style of argument,
You have to make an argument for it to have style. Lex is barely producing conjecture.

but there is zero evidence that cloud gaming poses a threat to the local PC gaming industry in any way. That is a fact.
Now that’s just insulting. Even Jon Peddie disagrees, and that’s a reasoned argument posted here from an historical authority on the graphics market. You can say it’s not a fact, but no one’s made a cogent argument to the contrary, let alone disproved it.

If you find this insulting, that's not my problem.

Edit: Also:

PC video gaming software sales revenue worldwide from 2008 to 2025(in million U.S. dollars)

Let it go man. Those two are not debating merit. They're arguing with their ego and pride as shown by the insults. Neither one of them can tell the difference between their backsides and a hole in the ground. If they want to continue spouting gibberish and embarrass themselves, let them. It's not going to change anything.

Just because Netflix doesn't have surround sound on PC, it doesn't mean that a TV is smarter.

I cannot only stream on my PC, but play games, edit documents, do work, emails, write this forum post, install apps, and if I wanted to, I could edit music, pictures, videos, etc. Can a TV do all this?

PCs were smart long before the term "smart device" even existed.
It's funny you say this because my shield, that's hooked up to my Denon AVR, sure does produce surround sound when i'm watching Netflix. I guess you have a different Netflix on your shield. Or maybe you don't actually own one.

Not to get too deep into the conspiracy thing, but I have to wonder if they’re killing it because of a possible incompatibility with DLSS3. If I understand it right Gamestream works through some driver magic that allows the NVENC engine to encode a frame sitting in the frame buffer before display. If I’m remembering right that is the same place the neural engine pulls its frames from and then places AI frames into. Wonder if something happened there.
DLSS didn't even exist when the shield first started Gamestreaming...this has been around since the shield handheld console. A lot more people use this feature than you might think.

It was discontinued because no one ever used it. GeforceNow will soon follow.
It's being discontinued because it's totally free and Nvidia wants to push users to their subscription based GeForce Now.
There were enough gamestream users that Nvidia felt they needed to cancel the service. If there were only a handful of people using it
then Nvidia wouldn't have cared.

I don't have a Shield, and I don't pay for any streaming service. But that's not my point. (please, read my comment again, and also the one I was replying to)

I'd argue it's been discontinued to push GeforceNow, or as one user postulated, due to DLSS3 issues. Heck, I don't have metrics at hand, but I do know for a fact game streaming has exploded in popularity recently. SteamLink, which is baked into the steam client and overlay, is probably your best source for hard data.
DLSS isn't in the equation...think about it Gamestream has been around since before DLSS was even a thing. My 1070ti, that doesn't have DLSS, gamestreams just fine and has been for years now. This is all about pushing people to GeForce Now.

Game streaming is game streaming whether it's over a LAN or a WAN. It's all gaming over a networked data stream. Are we understanding the context yet?

Let's consult a third party;

How about someone else;

Well, there we have it. What do you think?

Are you ever going to join a discussion where you contribute something meaningful?
The 'gamestream' service, as referred to by Nvidia, is a local streaming service. GeForce Now is the game streaming service akin to Netflix. Two totally different animals.

Oh wow, sorry that I replied. How thoughtless of me!:fear:

I'm not worried about your comments. I only suggest that you properly read the ones you reply to, and the ones that they were meant as a response for, so you understand the context before you comment.

A forum isn't only about saying what you want. It's also about reading and learning. Just sayin'. ;)

Games streaming over a network. Whether one is over a LAN and one over a WAN is semantics.

Not when Nvidia is specifically talking about cancelling a service that they have named Gamestream. They aren't cancelling GeForce now also...just Gamestream. That's the only thing i'm talking about here...I'm not referencing game streaming in the general sense.

Nice to see how GeForce Now is "getting discontinued soon too".
They recently launched another tier subscription for the service. It's clear it's dying hahahahah
You are 3/3 being wrong.
Man I love it when people not knowing what they are talking about make fools of themselves.
