NVIDIA closed its Sunday launch extravaganza by posting a new version of its GeForce software suite, a combination of drivers and software for its GeForce graphics processors. The new GeForce 310.90 introduces a much-needed security update for its driver service manager that patches a recently-discovered vulnerability. In addition, it brings improved stability and performance for the dual-GPU GeForce GTX 690, in 3D production applications. SLI profiles are added or updated for several games.

The change-log specific to this release follows.
  • Adds a security update for the NVIDIA Display Driver service (nvvsvc.exe).
  • Improves performance for GeForce GTX 690:
o Up to 19% faster performance in Autodesk 3ds Max when interacting with large models compared to GeForce GTX 480.
o Up to 60% faster performance in ray tracing applications such as NVIDIA iray and Chaos V-Ray (subject to the scene fitting into graphics memory) compared to GeForce GTX 480.
o Up to 76% faster performance in the 3D extruded ray tracing capability in Adobe After Effects compared to GeForce GTX 480.
  • Updates SLI profiles for Far Cry 3 and NBA2k13.
o Adds new 3D Vision profiles for the following games:
    - Aliens: Colonial Marines - rated Fair
    - GT Legends - rated 3D Vision Ready
    - LEGO: Lord of the Rings - rated Good
    - Miasmata - rated Good
    - Pirate101 - rated 3D Vision Ready
    - Viking: Battle for Asgard - rated Excellent
    - Warframe - rated Good
    - Wizard101 - rated 3D Vision Ready

As always, NVIDIA is using misleading wording. There are no game performance improvements, these were part of 310.70

New in GeForce R310 Drivers:

Performance Boost – Increases performance for GeForce 400/500/600 Series GPUs in several PC games vs. GeForce 306.97 WHQL drivers....

How is that misleading?

They just copy and paste; if you check the previous drivers, they always do that.

That still doesn't make it misleading.

I guess if people can't read...

"Release Highlights" .. "release" normally stands for "this version", not previous, or any mix
"These drivers also include optimizations" = "These" is referring to 310.70 (not 310.90)

That all applies still though doesn't it, not everyone grabs every driver release.

It then goes on say "New in Geforce 310.90" too. The bit btarunr quoted.

This really isn't that difficult.

It is however, still faulty. If you want to know what is new about specifically this revision, then the current information provided is incorrect and misleading.

why do they always compare the performance between the new driver and some old driver? this is pure misleading.

perhaps maybe because there aren't any new performance improvements between 310.70 and 310.90.

I give up.

hmmmm...
will they do the update every month??

I love nvidia (figuratively) but I do not smoke their PR bulls... :)

AFAIK it is just 310.70 with a security patch with my 0.0000001% improvement in game performance when compared to 310.70. I posted a thread of the new driver a few days ago D:

It's all explained rather clearly in the release notes.

I do realise that. But I am making sense of it for myself. PLUS I already knew about this, as I posted a thread about the new driver a few days ago.

Perhaps Nvidia should be more clear by stating in the changelog with "previous improvements", instead just saying "New in GeForce R310 Drivers", which could be confusing.

And that's great, it's just a lot of people here seem to be struggling with basic reading comprehension.

Security update. Nothing more.

Lol MM, I bet that at the moment you're trying to postpone giving any more "thanks" as long as you can:p

NVIDIA SSAA
Added negative LOD adjustments for NVIDIA’s full-screen sparse grid supersampling mode to improve image sharpness.

Most begged feature and no one gives a damn.

Frist Drivers in 2013 and it's WHQL :)

Most begged feature and no one gives a damn.

I do, works great in The Walking Dead using Nvidia Inspector from what I can see. Yet to try it in any other games!!

Technically, when you read the Release Highlights it pertains to the whole R310 revision (310.xx, not just 310.90) which those two paragraphs reference.

Yeah, it's still confusing if you're not a careful reader though.
