Fine.

here's a benchmark proving that all the 8GB and 10GB cards completely shit the bed at launch, even at 1080p. The problem was that the developer targeted a 12GB baseline and had to go back a few weeks after launch to tune it for 8GB cards by hacking image quality down even further.

In no circumstance should a 6700XT be twice as fast as an RTX 3080, unless the 3080 has run out of VRAM. For games where 10GB is enough, the 3080 is a good 25-50% faster than the 6700XT, not 50% slower.

I've experienced it in person, but these benches are all over the web and not hard to find. This isn't the first game to hate 8GB cards either, and it absolutely will not be the last.

RT on a new AAA title will make any $300 @ launch card shit the bed. This chart actually proves my earlier point, since both the 6700XT and 7700XT launched at $450+!

As for the 3080 10GB, if you know anybody who spent that kind of money back in the day for 10GB of VRAM, then… better call in a wellness check lol

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.

True, but a few games have now launched that require RT and you can't run them without it. Performance be damned, if your GPU can't run it, then it's going to get a "fail" in the benchmarks.

In fairness, when I said the x50 and x60 class cards (up to this point all of which except the 3060 12GB launched with 8GB or less) were intended to play the most popular games of their time (not AAA titles, even though most of the time they can play those titles too especially after a fair amount of time post-release to allow the developer to release patches and optimization) at not Ultra, but MED/HIGH (x50/x60) 1080p@60fps, I made that claim with the underlying assumption that RT was also off, as I think most users today would agree that RT/PT visual effects fall into the category of Ultra/Extreme visual settings.
