How can the US-government ban this product when it is being made in China? Can somebody explain the dynamics to me? :D
I don't know where you get your information from, because no Western graphics cards are manufactured in the PRC, but in Taiwan.

Would you ever think gpu's would have to comply with government agencies back in the day...
AMD, NVIDIA, Intel they are all controlled by USA government's political and military interests.
USA is scared that China might come closer or even bypass it in technology and militarily so they are trying to slow it down.

They are made in Taiwan by US controlled companies. Taiwan is a Chinese island unofficially taken over by USA, it's the electronics factory of EU and USA

Why are the 4080 and below not part of it? Why is there a thread now stating that 7900 cards from AMD are being gobbled up?
Based on news and Nvidia/AMD statements sanctioned (requiring export license to sell in China or Russia) are A100 and cards that are at the same performance or higher. Basically, cards based on GA100, GH100, AD102 and MI250. From the looks of it, performance thresholds seem to be based on AI performance.

Such hyper fixation on such connections, not taking everything into account, & not really looking at history, only narratives.

China has a middle class twice the size of the whole USA.
Correct, this is only true due to their population being quadruple that of the USA. Also, the American middle class is far richer in wealth per individual/family than the Chinese middle class. Look up GDP/Median income statistics.

All of those Companies are based in the US, what are you trying to say?

If you took some time and stepped back you would understand why the former Prime Minister of Japan was killed by a home made gun. China has built 3 Aircraft Carriers in the last 10 years. Only Ukraine has prevented them from trying something stupid.

China/Taiwan is no different than North Korea/South Korea so stop reading the narrative and pick up a book.
