NVIDIA today released the GeForce 436.15 WHQL drivers. These drivers come game-ready for the day's big AAA game launch, "Control." The drivers also introduces Video Codec SDK 9.1, the software-end of NVIDIA's on-chip video transcoding hardware, which adds a new NVEncode API, support for CUStream in the NVEncode API, and bug-fixes to H.264 MVC encoding. The drivers also pack Optical Flow SDK 1.1. Among the application-specific bug-fixes are display corruption of tracks in "Forza Motorsport 7," and system crashes observed when installing NVIDIA drivers on systems that have multiple graphics cards with mixed GPU architectures (eg: a system that has a "Maxwell" graphics card and a "Pascal" graphics card.). Grab the driver from the link below.

The change-log follows.
Game Ready
Provides increased performance and the optimal gaming experience for Control.

New Features and Other Changes
Added driver support for Video Codec SDK 9.1
  • Added a new NVENCODE API to more detailed error reporting.
  • Added support for CUStream in NVENCODE API to facilitate parallel execution of pre-/post-processing of video on CUDA and encoder tasks.
  • Implemented bug-fixes and API enhancement to support H.264 MVC encoding.

Added driver support for Optical Flow SDK 1.1
  • Added new algorithms to improve the quality of flow vectors for "SLOW" preset, especially for flat regions.
  • Added a new API to retrieve the highest Optical Flow SDK version supported by the underlying driver.
Fixed Issues in this Release
  • [Forza Motorsport 7]: There is corruption on the tracks in the game.
  • System crash occurs while installing the drivers on a system with GPUs from mixed architectures; for example, Fermi and Pascal.

For some reason, Control was offered for about half the price earlier today as a pre-order on the Epic games store.
Super resource heavy from what I can tell so far and I've only spent about half an hour playing it.
Worked fine from what I could tell with the previous drivers, but hopefully these will improve things.

Let's see if Nvidia got their issues worked out and won't release a hotfix driver for this version too.

I guess I got used to Steam unlocking games at midnight east coast, and also Steam allowing preloads. All excited to try out Control last night and had to search the internet for the unlock time. Looks like it was 6 AM Pacific. Didn't think they'd need another driver update after the gamescom one but here it is. I guess I'll try again tonight.

Looks like some major issues with this release.

I'm going to test now, but I gained a few fps with the gamescom drivers a few days ago in witcher 3... im on a laptop though so must be different for desktop

seen reports on reddit that this breaks BF:V

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I got it on the Epic Game Store in the "free" games from buying my 2070 Super. I was just saying that Steam had me trained to the point where I was expecting to be able to play it at midnight eastern, or at least get it ready for the next day, but EGS is a joke and I had to wait. I also had to close out of the EGS client and reopen it before it was even available. Got an "unavailable" where the install button should be. That's some crappy customer experience...

Pretty much the experience I had with EGS as well, it's really rather crap compared to Steam, Blizzard, Origin (which was quite crap), etc.
I had the "unavailable" thing as well, which lasted for a couple of hours and then all of a sudden, it was possible to install the game.

I’m two drivers back and didn’t have any problems at all playing Control on release day yesterday. In fact it didn’t even appear to be all that heavy on the resources usage. If it isn’t broken, I’ll just keep using the old one.

It's almost certainly an update for DLSS and RTX in the driver update, so I'm not surprised that you don't have problems playing it with older drivers on a 1080 Ti. Are you playing DX11 or DX12?

It was DX11. I must have missed the DX12 option. I’ll need to go and put it in DX12 mode tonight.
