NVIDIA Surpasses Apple as the World's Most Valuable Company

I'm not thinking of Google's mobile SoC, but I still believe I heard Google talk about tensor cores before nVidia. Not that it matters either way.
Yes, Google's TPU, first used in 2015, predates Nvidia's tensor cores which were introduced in 2017 by Volta. The first TPU uses a systolic array and Nvidia's tensor cores are suspected to be systolic arrays as well.

Part of the success here is the same reason Apple became so successful - captive audiences locked into expensive walled gardens.

How many AI tools run on CUDA? I'm dealing with a few of them (well, dealing with licensing for a few of them, I don't actually use much other than ChatGPT myself) and an Nvidia card is in the system requirements. OpenAI isn't making a dent in CUDA, unfortunately.

A GPU company #1 in the world, crazy ahh times

An AI accelerator company during the peak of AI hype, who's decreasingly important gaming GPU profit now barely pays the company's tax bill, is the most in-demand company for stock market speculators.

I find it very funny that a company with roots in gaming managed to get to the top of the world in valuation a few decades later. Jensen played his cards right.

100% The company has put continuing time and effort into CUDA and it's massively paying off over a decade later.

It seems like Huang FINALLY has enough money to get rid of those cheapo leather jackets now.

He looks so happy I think he'll give Blackwell away on deep sale.
Hm. Is that JHH in the picture? You could be right. I sure didn't recognise him.

No more jokes about Jens leather jacket, its now practically an emblem of success, part of the winning formula :respect:

Is it just me, or does seeing NVIDIA overtake Apple as the highest-valued publicly traded company feel oddly satisfying? Perhaps its my life-long adoption of Nvidia products or just my lack of enthusiasm for Apple products.

nVidia is an enterpise oriented company since the inception of CUDA. The only diference is, that nVidia was gaining it's success in GPGPU deceitfully, by positioning their gaming cards as compute ones. Thus, they should be liable, for this, as it falsely advertises, and falsely reports about product sales, and positioning. Might be written in a confusing way, but I hope you will get the idea.

Yet, it's never enough.

How about a well priced new generation of GPU's to celebrate this milestone Huang?
They will be well priced all right... well priced for nVidia's profit, haha.

Even though I was slightly late to getting into PCs compared to when nVidia got involved, I still saw them from close to their earliest days, and it's a bit strange seeing a company that used to just be a "graphics card" company being the largest company in the world. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Neither positive nor negative really, bit it is a clear sign nVidia isn't serving the PC consumer market first and foremost anymore.

imagine the guy just got 10billion this month according forbes

People hate Intel so much they would rather Nvidia buy it so we can be sold £2000 CPUs?

Funny thing is, if all the foundries cut them both off they would both be dead in the water.......................

That would be an awesome time to be alive!

I don't think this will stay for long time >>> after the so high demand finish < AI chips not like our phone
You are correct. it will not stay for long. It is foresee that NVidia will bypass 4 Trillions by the end of the fiscal year.

still waiting for a stable 2060 driver that doesnt interfere with bluetooth and audio  from most valuable company

You mean, both foundries would be dead in the water?
