I think it's fair to say, the GTX and even GT have more headroom for 3DMark scores. I mean extra pipelines, release dates that actually take place within a decade of the original announcements, and they don't have these little charts going around telling everyone they're better, kinda makes (me) think that Nvidia might not need to retaliate because their product speaks for itself. The X1800's might compare pretty well but in most benchmarks the 7800GTX almost always pulls (even slightly) ahead of the X1800XT.
