My 5850 is a great card. However games like Metro 2033 and Fallout:NV tend to show is weakness. Even BC2 when the shit hits the fan I get a lil' slow down. Anyway thats my excuse and if I telling myself that enough it will convince me

Highly doubt the 6970 will be that much faster if at all faster then the 580.

I'd like to see some proper 'leaks' of the 69xx's very soon. It seems the 580 leaks are everywhere and they seem to confirm a few things but AMD are tight as a fishes arse. What they up to?

Or the are simply waiting and see what happens to to make the final move. HD6850 had a significant clock increase (50mhz) just 2-3 weeks prior to release. Like with Barts I think that's one of the reasons that TDP is not clear. <225 and 00 gives them ample room to choose from should they need to increase clocks.

Your trouble is you need to overclock your 5850 to at least 850 core 4800 ram . It will do those speeds on default voltage and nearly match a 5870 and at 1.2v it should do 900 + exceeding a 5870 you will see serious increases in performance. Most chips will do more than 1000 core with decent cooling. If you do this your slow downs will go away.

The 5970 will be just a little faster then 6970 and we know that the 5970 is faster for about 10% then the GTX480, so i think the 6970 will just equal the GTX480 or be a little better and can't even beat the GTX 580 if the 20% performance over GTX480 is true.

Bah! Read that too quickly earlier and was thinking 6970 = 5970 replacement. Was thinking about something else when I read your earlier post. Makes sense now.

Looking at this slide from Anandtech from the 5870 launch

and considering prices from this slide

I'm going to guess 6950 will be MSRP of $400 and 6970 will be $475.

6990 will be way over $500. I'd expect MSRP to be $600. Are we heading toward G80 prices again? It doesn't look good even if nVidia does bring a rebranded and fixed kitchen sink.
