OS X Leopard Hacked for Intel PCs

I tried it just for kicks, and the postpatch.sh file does NOT want to work. Patched DVD takes about 10 minutes to load to the install screen, and from there it installs and works, but trying to actually make the thing boot-able is another story. Oh well no big deal. Woo Ubuntu!

No, PowerPCs weren't progressing the way Apple wanted, and saw Intel as a much better solution. The switch definitely helped their market share, along with Boot Camp.

Thats pretty much the case.

Several years ago, Apple moved from Motorolla because they (motorolla) no longer saw Apple as a viable profit platform or a good use of their resources (at the time) and pretty much treated Apple like an unwanted stepchild. Apple then switched to IBM to take over motorola's slack (or lack of interest) but as we all know, IBM too progressively lost interest in developing a PPC CPU. After all that had happened, Apple then contacted AMD and Intel regarding processor manufacturing and support for their new macs but AMD's reply was that they just could not meet Apple's demand (at the time) and the rest is history (now with Intel). I believe AMD was in the process of focusing most of it's available resources in acquiring ATI as well as into their next generation CPU and chipset technology to be able to provide much focus on adapting their already existing technology for use in Macs. Sad really...

In hindsight, theres quite a few companies there that probably wish they didn't give Apple the cold shoulder... I really don't care how much any of you dislike or like Apple, they are a unique and true success story! How many times have people all but burried Apple and gave them up for dead? And now look at them... What makes me happy is that there is still something out there that can possibly hold Microsoft at bay or at least make them pause and think twice. I attribute most people in liking Windows as to just not really knowing any better. It's not just Mac OS X, it's also Linux and other OSes that are every bit as good, if not better than Windows but sadly most people just do not have a clue...

Anyhow, I just ordered my copy of Leopard! Looking forward to playing around with it!

I guarantee you will enjoy it. As I said, it's the way OS X should've been from the beginning.

Actually, they had a hard time during the 90's.. Also, they've made some bad things over the years (HEAT! :p), and it's only in the recent years they regained their former glory.

Anyhow, I think I will give it a go.. Maybe, just maybe. I still want to buy a Mac Mini though (when I get the $$$ nedded, so this will never happen. :p)..

i gave up. i couldn't figure out how to get it on. :(
