Sure but I don't see how nVidia would give users 50% more VRAM (and of the GDDR7 variety) for similar money.
I mean that would be the move AMD has been making since, I don't know, HD 6970 vs GTX 570 or something.

An RTX 5070 or 5070 Super with 18 GB would be appealing at $550, at $600 it will be still be weaker than 9070 XT for the same money with marginally more VRAM. That extra VRAM would also increase the power consumption slightly which for these weaker cards matters more than for the flagships.

nVidia pulled a fast one with the 4060 Ti 16 GB which had horrible MSRP and subsequently value, if they charge $100 more for a 5070 with 18 GB it's DOA. $100 more for a 5070 Super 18 GB it's still DOA, at $600 it's semi-reasonable but the 9070 XT is still the better deal for me.

Giving the 5070 Ti, 5080 and 5090 a similar 50% VRAM upgrade for similar money or a slight price increase is unlikely, they would sell these standard ones for inflated prices if only they had stock available. These three RTX cards are highly coveted, people would pay at least 20% more and they would fly off the shelves, so it's not like nVidia would manage to sell them only by increasing the VRAM capacity.

So I don't know, the 3 GB chips will definitely help with product segmentation (100% in the future), but for this generation I would reckon that nVidia will not be making gifts to consumers.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
3 GB chips are coming out soon
since 3GB chips won't need extra PCB design to accommodate more physical BGA packages on the card like the 4060Ti 16GB did, is it too much to hope that 50% more VRAM doesn't have quite such a ridiculous markup on price?

An 18GB 5070S would be fantastic, but not if it's $100 more for realistically 6GB extra that costs AIBs around $10-20 to add.
