There are some cases where NVME makes sense. One of those are Games like Total War Warhammer. It's not just load times but also turn time in RTS Games. It is all really moot for AMD enthusiasts though as by January for most of us we will be enjoying SAM. For everyone else Direct Storage should be coming as Microsoft must respond to Sony's variant of the technology. Right now though there are some cases where SSDs have a better sustained write, as an example a RAID 0 SSD writes Game files faster than a NVME. The highest sustained throughput I have seen using Task Manager is 1.3 GB/s on NVME and 1050 GB/s on SATA. The best example though is the Epic installer that gives you a write rate on your download using that NVME does bursts between 100 mbs to 1.1 GB/s but the SATA will be a consistent 540 Mb/s for pretty much the entire download.
