Phanteks Showcases their Project 217 and 217S Cases at CES 2017

At CES 2017, CES showcased a new case prototype, Project 217, which will come in two versions: the 217 and the 217S which, as you might have guessed, is a smaller version of the 217, sharing with it the same design language and product vision.





The goal of Project 217 and its little brother was to develop a case with a relatively small footprint and aesthetics particularly suited for the living room, while retaining the ability to receive high-quality components through its ITX and SFF components support. The graphics card is set behind the motherboard through the use of a riser, and the motherboard is rotated 90º with all the connections being on top of the case. The lower part of the case carries the SFF PSU and some cooling fans.

That really has nothing to do with livingroom aesthetic one way or another. If you don't want distracting lights from inside your PC - just don't buy components with them. Or turn them off on components that do come with that stupid RGB crap.

Don't see a problem with it. This would make a nice living room showcase if built correctly or similar to the display shown here. As mentioned above, if LED's are an issue, stay away from those components. Or if your build skills suck maybe stash the chassis in a hidden area.

It is certainly a clean looking case, would look good on the shelf under my TV.

Finally, finally, finally....

Someone out there using their brains to come up with a case design that is really cool and different from all the other square/rectangular beige boxen POS's that we have had to put up for umpteen years.....

Most people i know would NOT put a circuit board show on in their living room.

And most boards these days have some forms of leds on them, and not all of them are possible to turn of.

What board can you not turn them off on? I even have a fricken Asus ROG board and I was able to turn off every LED light show on the entire board save for the singular power light.
