Nothing guarantees that OEMs would throw away their beloved (vendor lock-in) proprietary solutions for a general standard.
That's true, but you have their favourite argument: cost reduction. Standardization makes things cheaper, as you no longer have to develop and maintain specifications for your own proprietary standards, and parts will be cheaper. And they don't care about vendor lock-in for these things, as the second hand/parts markets are simply too small. The money is in the long term service agreements with businesses anyhow, where the lock-in is on a whole other level.

OEMs only hold onto proprietary stuff when it gives them an advantage over the competition, which is why ATX was dumped by OEMs long ago. Designing your own weird proprietary PSU is a liability for everyone involved, there is no reason to keep doing it if a standard can be made that fits everyones needs. It seems like most of the OEMs are using 12v designs and the only thing that differs between them is the connections so thats the only thing that needs to be settled on to make it a standard.

Will try to find an XBOX PSU. Have this in my schedule for quite some time now.

Any update on when this might be coming? Would be a neat review to read.

@crmaris

Do you know if I can bring my playstation 5 with me to UK when I move there (its usa version)? I haven't decided if I am keeping my PS5 or not yet, I haven't even opened it. However, if I buy the right UK power cord for it, will it be as simple as plug and play in UK?

You can (if you zoom the label, you'll see the 200-240V label). Your box/console should mention something similar somewhere

It was also tested in the review
