It doesn't cost more than PS5. PS5 has never reached MSRP price and it doesn't look like it ever will at this point. I don't see any mention of PC support there.
I beg to differ. I have had no issues getting PS5s for family at MSRP

I bought one from best buy for MSRP (PS5)

I am using it of course. No digital downloads besides the one that came with the console (Horizon). All physical.

Gotta say it's pretty good. Not worth the MSRP price though, at least here in Canada.

I'll forgo the VR though. Got a quest 2 that is collecting dust.

That's cheaper than half the Meta Quest Pro, you don't even get a one eye VR from Zuck for that kind of money!

It's actually "cheap" for all the technology included, shame they don't make it officialy PC compatible.

And I'm not interested in unofficial hacks - even the products that are used as they are meant and have full support of manufacturer are often not really performing well. Like my HP Reverb G2 - cables are now worth the third of the cost of new headset, and are so flimsy they get damaged even when playing sitting down and taking great care of them (additional ties and supports so you don't stress the connectors)...

That's cause you're in US and not in EU. All that's available in EU are bundles which aren't priced at MSRP.

PSVR2 will not be sold directly by Sony, so once again same retailers will be opening preorders which most likely will not match the MSRP in EU.

It's not real availability. Check prices in Sweden. Try to buy one for MSRP, I'd love to see the crusade that takes you on.

I was able to get mine for MSRP by buying direct from Sony. Not sure if that's an option for you though.

I have the Index and it is pretty cool, but after the novelty wears off there is not much left. I have not used mine in a couple months now that I think about it.

reading my physical copy of gameinformer, the editor there went to try out the psvr2 in person, he said its next level. he said there is no pixelation at all, everything is crisp clear. has that been your experience with the Index?

Looks like even PS5 is like a rare Pokémon; even in Japan it cannot be find anywhere after all those months. Somebody is getting very reach over this, or maybe just Sony is really a SCAM company... most likely.

no, Sony is doing just like every other company. saturate USA markets first because thats where your biggest profits come from (the way currency conversion crap works, I don't fully understand it all myself), but then once that market is saturated you begin to sell elsewhere more and more or offload the slow sales from USA to elsewhere.

that's how its always been done from my observations. cause the biggest profit gains come from USA

So that means they completelly piss on Japan and Japanese customers with 0 (Zero) availability of their console on the domestic market. Here, in Japan, scalpers are selling those PS5 3 or 4 times the MSRP price. It's grotesque ridiculous.
As I said, a shady company.

its not shady, its capitalism. the Japanese currency isn't worth much at the moment.

unless you want Sony to go out of business, they have to maximize their gains before saturation occurs.

edit: im not actually sure this is how it works, just my best guess. its not something that is great, i agree. but its reality. not much we can do about it

Currently there are at least two things I don’t like about the PSVR2 and while I would like to try it, I’ll not likely buy it (or at least not until it goes on sale at reduced price).

The first issue is that its default operation or only operation mode is tethered to the PS5 physically. Going back to wired VR (only) is a step backwards IMO and Sony really should have added a Wireless operation mode (even if they needed to add a Wireless dongle for dedicated connection).

The other issue is that even though the controllers will have the same dynamic trigger pressure levels as the PS5 controllers, they will be tracked using the four cameras on the PSVR2 HMD. This means the same ubiquitous occlusion issues of inside out tracking will debase hand tracking.

There is some interesting tech packed into the PSVR2 and it’s definitely a step up from the original PSVR but these design choices also make it feel like it’s got one foot in the past IMO.

I wonder if the PSVR2 is compatible with PC; I recall the PSVR1 could be used with a PC, but it'd just be like wearing a computer monitor (not always a bad thing if space is a premium) and couldn't translate PC VR games to VR on the PSVR1.

All I have used is the Index. So I cant say if it is better or worse. The Vive has a better unit out there with more pixels, but cost a lot more. In my opinion, I would not buy a VR until it is tetherless. The Oculus is tetherless, but the performance difference is significant. I suspect this is something that these companies are putting a lot of R&D into and expect to see big changes over the next few years.

Indeed, they have started to take preorders for the PSVR2. This reminds me of the Sony preorders of the PS5. For those who really want a PSVR2 and have the means / opportunity you probably should preorder ASAP.

Basically, I think you’re right about preorders but this also might depend on region. So really it’s an issue of subtle distinction with respect to bundles and MSRP. I say this because I bought a PS5 direct from Sony online at MSRP but I also bought two PS5 console bundles from GameStop which cost more (but we’re actually within MSRP or less).

So basically a PS5 at MSRP + a couple of PS5 games at MSRP + a second authentic official PS5 controller at MSRP = a bundle that has no one item that forces it above and beyond MSRP. Toss in a GameStop gift card at no extra charge and the bundle accumulatively is technically below (lower) then MSRP.

Raising the price with nothing in return and nothing to show for it is beyond MSRP and enters into price gouging territory.
