My cats killed my 144Hz monitor AGAIN. I took my time (a few days) to buy another one. Now all is fine except 3D stuff. I tried all software tricks I could think about and cleaned my GPU somewhat with mouth fooooing. Seememed to work for a few more secs. In my net-fked win 7 I trieed an offline game which wouldn't even start up to main menu.. Please HELP!

This post is all over the map.. lol...mouth fooing? da hek does that mean? Net-fked win7...wha?

What happened with the monitor and cats? If your monitor broke, it shouldn't have anything to do with your GPU...

Have you tried updating/reinstalling drivers? You mention software tricks, but I have no idea what that means/what you've actually done as far as troubleshooting.

It means air dusting with mouth instead of a CO2 jet. And windows 7 needs a reinstall since it won't connect to any network. Sorry, I was too drunk last night. I am not going to tell you my "tricks" unless you prove a bit more useful than suggesting driver update.

If you dont want to answer questions and share what you've tried already, we can't really help much. Good luck!

I guess that depends on how your cat manage to kill your monitor that it affected your PC. Maybe like you might've done something that affected your PC when testing your monitor's survivability or something. Or your cat might've also done something to your PC as well without you knowing it. "mouth fooooing" is also not recommended as moisture from your mouth could negatively affect the contact pins of your electronics. If you had to do it, then you should blow onto it gently at a reasonably longer distance & wait for a minute or so. Or you could've used a static-free dust blower.

Reinstalling Win7 is a rather extreme solution just to connect to a network without consulting anyone first.

As @EarthDog said: We can't help much if you are unwilling to share more info on you troubleshooting experience. There is not much else we can do to help with the limited info you have provided.

The monitor is new. It is the ONLY change I made to the PC after a cat jumped on my previous monitor from the back and killed it instantly. So my PC has been off for quite a few days. Everything seems to be working except games/3D stuff. I can only run 3D/games for a few seconds after which PC reboots without any BSOD. I am running windows 10 pro 64 bit and all drivers are up to date. I have an older 7 install on another drive (not multi boot). I guess I should try and reinstall that and see...

Sounds like your cat indirectly killed your PSU as well. Or something else might've happened while you weren't using your PC on those few days. Try swapping out your PSU with another one. Borrow one from your cat or neighbor's dog if you have to. Or bring it to a local repair shop for testing.

Can you run 3DMark (Fire Strike Extreme or Time Spy) and it works? It's just in games? If so, try running a CPU stress test AND 3DMark at the same time. If you can get through that, your PSU is fine and it is the game/os/driver issue. If you can't I'd look at the PSU as well if it only happen under load.

Yeah, no. Unless you keep tigers around, a cat tilting the monitor over will not "kill" a monitor. It can break it, cause it to artifact and such, but will not outright "kill" it.
You probably had shoddy wiring around that caused something to short.

Try removing the video card and running from the IGP, see if that makes a difference.

I downloaded and ran the performance test from passmark. PC restarted during DX12 gpu test.

That isn't what we asked to run, but... tells a story nonetheless.

What about 3DMark? Can you loop Fire Strike Extreme or Time Spy?

Start with the basics.. reseat all your hardware, power and data cables.

Try the GPU in another system to see if it's the GPU.

Didn't realize that a loose DisplayPort cable would cause PC reboots with 3D stuff along with network connectivity error.
Loose cable might've been the first thing I'd check for after a hardware failure like that.

Glad it was an easy fix... that's something I always check when things are going wonky. Add it to the toolbox and leave it on top. :)
Loose DP cable. You know, the one that clicks in place and isn't easy to pull out by accident. Makes you wonder how his other cables are doing :D

I was using the monitor w/o stand, tying to fit it in a slot on the PC table where cats won't be able to drop it. It was a very tight fit. You would understand if you had to buy 5 gaming monitors in less than 2 years. Anyway, I'm back to square 1 safety-wise. Cats just won't stay outside during the winter. They keep violently knocking on door handles and screaminng until I let them in.

Depends on how train them, mine don't ;)

Edit: On a more constructive note, instead of continuing to buy monitors, why don't you get a VESA wall mount or arm instead?

Well, I'm not sure I would want to stay outside during the winter, either. If there are places you'd rather not have cats jumping on, try putting aluminum foil down. Eventually they'll figure out not to jump there anymore.
